Router Intermittently Recycles Itself - For No Apparent Reason

One for the tech gurus. Router Model: Sagemcom f@st 5670v2.

My router, ISP supplied, keeps resetting itself at various points through the day, for no reason. It does not appear to be for firmware updates.
Basically, it soft recycles by itself.

I did Google this and some say it is the power supply. The power supply is one of those typical wall-warts.
There are no indications of power fluctuation in my apartment. My TV stays on and the lights do not flicker when this happens - There is no effect on any of my other electronics… Also, It does not occur when the A/C turns on or off.

Anyone here have similar problems?
And more importantly, has anyone found a solution?
Is it as simple as trying a different wall-wart?
Or getting my own router?

Thanks In Advance.

ISP supplied routers (at least here in the UK) are almost always naff.
Unless mandated by the ISP then your own router is probab;y best, safest, etc. etc.

This assumes you are happy configuring a router though

Several years ago I bought a kitchen appliance that appeared to be DOA. But before sending the whole thing back, I decided to purchase a wall wart to replace the one that came with it. Problem solved without the nuisance of returning anything. So I would suggest getting a wart of the same value as the one that came with the router and see what happens.

Could it be due to the high energy use — that’s assuming you are in a part of the country where it is damned hot!

I don’t think that is the problem. The seasons have not made a difference. The cycling happens regardless.

This is summer, depends on where you are, you could be having power quality issues even if your other appliances are working fine.

Quickest route, if you are close to your ISP’s store fronts, unplug your router, drive to their office, and demand a new one.

Or do as other suggested, get a different wall wart see what happens.

Or, try some UPS solutions for all your internet, PC, Mac, IT stuffs from brands like APC or Cyberpower.

Or, be overkill, get a P15 for the router

Since it is an ISP supplied device the answer is; contact them and have them send a new
one. They own it, you’re renting it.
