Did anyone partake in Record Store Day this year?
I found most of what i wanted. The ones I didn’t get I will be looking for online tomorrow morning.
Nice! I’ve not heard the Foreigner 4 Live - is it a good recording?
I just went. The only title left in the store was the Black Sabbath. Otherwise I looked at a dozen empty crates. ![]()
snooze I lose.
I haven’t had a chance to listen to it, yet. It has been a pretty busy weekend.
I’ll try to remember to come back here to post my thoughts when I do finally get to listen to it.
Take your time. I’ll see if I can find it on Qobuz first. You and I have similar taste in music.
I’m listening to the album now.
Since the album is a compilation of performances from three different venues, the tracks don’t have a consistent “feel” to them. Some are mixed superbly where the soundstage puts you in the mid center seat and you can tell where the instruments are on the stage. Then with other tracks, the band is much more forward, and the sound is locked between the two speakers until the audience kicks in and then the soundstage widens to encompass the audience.
With that said, though, I am enjoying it very much and would not hesitate to recommend it.
Thanks for the review. It’s no surprise that a live album was recorded from different performances and thus the quality varies. Even the highly praised Cheap Trick at Budokan was recorded at mulitple locations on multiple evening - some claim none of the Budokan recordings made it to the LP.
I now have almost all the jazz releases, but on cd released this week, and they are quite good! I passed on the Tibori tape selection from Impulse as I plan to get the complete set later this year. I have the Bill Evans on order, should arrive this week.
