SACD playback transport

+1

Weird, I know.

Paul McGowan said Perhaps random play, but can't change the screen size. The latest versions of firmware for the video screen does have large numbers that can be seen across the room, so that's something.
Any Idea When I can Place my order for the new SACD-Transport? or when it will become available? I am definitely going to replace my PWT with the sacd version asap

Paul has indicated the target release date is October.

That seems like an eternity from now..I was hoping for a spring release

I thought October was mentioned as a possible date for the start of the beta testing program.

There will be an early beta test program some of you may wish to participate in. Maybe as early as August.

A feature that I would like to see is a Video output (HDMI/Composite) for the display. The screen on the PWT is useless from more than a few feet. Give me an output that I can feed to my Big Screen TV (either directly, or through a pre processor/RX).

I am still almost definitely in. My 250+ SACD’s almost demand it.

Agreed. My Rockna has it, however I would prefer HDMI over VGA.

Yeah I definitely want to participate

My guess is that the case would not have enough room to add video circuitry and an HDMI port, and I don't know if adding video circuitry would risk adding noise to the system.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that they stick to using either a P5 or P10 case for new products to reduce production cost. Perhaps they should consider a new case size that is somewhere between the P5 and P10 case sizes. That would give them room for an optional phono input on the new preamp that someone requested on another topic. My audio research LS-27 preamp is nearly 6" high and has both RCA and balanced jacks for all inputs and outputs.

I’m in.

It seems that the idea of iPad control for the new transport has gone across pretty well.

I have another thought.

How about expanding the iPad ap to cover all products?

The new preamp seems to be still in the preliminary stages so that makes it easy and the power plants could be added to the ap in due course.

What does everybody think?

Bruce

Any new info on when this will be available for preorder?

We’re shooting for a June Beta.

Very exciting, Paul!

Thanks Elk. There’s lots of debate over at Paul’s Post that we did not include video out. I am sure others will be disappointed we went to build the best audio only multi-channel transport ever made. You have to draw the line somewhere if you’re concerned about quality performance.

Tough call.

Exciting indeed, and I think you made the right decision not to compromise audio quality by adding the video out.

Paul, when was the discussion on video out? I read your posts every day in e-mail, but I have the bad habit of not going to the website and reading the comments. Definitely a different angle than the forum …

Wil the Beta be open to forum members or by invitation?

Good decision.

It is akin to deciding to build a sports car for the enthusiast instead of a compromise sporty sedan like an M3.

Maintaining focus on the best performance in light of potentially greater market share with a compromised product must be a challenge, especially for a small business.

Would it have been possible to include the video output and maintain the best audio quality by having a setting to turn off the video circuitry?

As others mentioned, how will you be able to navigate menus on DVD-A and Blu-ray audio discs without any video output?
