SALE ! PerfectWave SACD Transport

Thanks Paul, I was surprised at no response. Dan.

My apologies.

Short of resorting to profanity, I cannot begin to come up with enoigh superlatives for the PS Audio Perfect Wave SACD Transport.

Harkening back to when the CD was introduced and for the next several decades, I recall thinking that it was a terribly flawed format and could never approach vinyl, even on the high-end transports and DAC’s of the day. I went through succession of players, ending up with a Pioneer Elite - remember the stable platter that played the disc upside down? Moving on I again had a succession of transports, Audio Research CDT, Dac 1-16,Dac 1-20, Dac 5, finally a PS Audio PWT/PWD combo which was pretty satisfying and began to show me some of the possibilities of the Red Book CD.

The DSD upgrade to the PWD was eye-opening and came awfully close to my vinyl setup, but the SACD Transport is somehow light years ahead. I sensed Paul’s enthusiasm for the new transport, but couldn’t really believe that a transport could make such a difference -after all,we’ve been hearing ā€œBits are Bitsā€ since the dawn of the CD!

I’m hear to tell you that it’s all he said it was and more! ā€œPRATā€, unbridled dynamics and bass to die for, finally digital (to me anyway) gets the gestalt of the performances. (an organized whole that is perceived as more than the sum of its parts, a Harry Pearson descriptor that I’ve always liked)

There is more beauty and detail buried in those pits on a silver disc than I had ever believed possible. Listening sessions consist of putting on some obscure disc that I perhaps played once or twice in the past, only to be stunned with a multitude of ā€œholy sh*tā€ moments.

In a somewhat anti-climatic event, I recently received my Stellar Phono Preamplifier and the sound is neck and neck with the digital stack… Pitch stability, bass, and slam go to the CD’s though. And really, although I’ve got a smattering of SACD’s the beauty hear IMHO is just how wonderful Red Book CD’s sound.

Thanks Paul and crew!

@jpb6061 thanks so much for your comments on the PST. I have one on order and can’t wait for delivery.

I too have been disappointed for the most part since the CD has been introduced. Luckily for me I never sold off any of my LP’s and continue to enjoy them as my preferred source.

I’m hoping the PST will come very close or surpassing my vinyl setup.

You might be surprised!

I’ve been upgrading mine for years; currently VPI Super Scoutmaster, Super Platter, Rim Drive, 10.5" 3D arm, SDS, Ortofon MC A90, Weisline (Nordost) phono cable, Spec AP-UD1 platter mat, and now Stellar Phono Pre.

Don’t keep us in suspense after you get it buirned in!

Great setup! I’m on an Avenger ā€œPlusā€ (upgraded feet, BLDC motor with rim drive). Thinking about going for the mag platter at some point. A95 among other carts (Benz LPS, SS Sussurro and Paua, some Ortofons and others).

I have a VPI-HRX 12.7 tonearm with SDS, Ortofon Cadenza Black with a Gold Note PH-10 Phono Stage/PSU-10 Power Supply.

Another awesome table!

This gives me hope that I’ll hear a noticeable improvement in my modest system, even if it’s slight. Can’t wait to get my hands on it.

I’m sure you will… Let us know! You don’t have to read between the lines to sense Paul’s excitement over this product and I hear what he hears!

I’ve had the new Transport for about 3 weeks. It replaces an Ayer C-5. Wow. I’
m playing 1980s vintage Red Book CDs that now sound like SACDs. I expected a slight improvement over the 15 year old Ayre but its no contest. It’s wonderful. Depth, soundstage tonal accuracy and frequency response are all the best I’ve ever heard. Only problem is I am no longer happy with my Roon streaming music… even the HD stuff.

Tidal, Qobuz and my files via Roon generally play second fiddle to my CDs and SACDs spun on a PS Audio DMP and converted by my PS Audio DS Sr. DAC. Interestingly enough, my files played via JRiver Media Center more often than not trump my disc spinner/DAC combo.

I am not surprised you like your new spinner better than your Roon feed. What DAC are you pairing with the new PST, if you don’t mind my asking?

In any event, enjoy your new kit!

Mine has been spinning about 18 days and I’ve checked in with it on headphones every other day or so–I’ve been without an amp for my speakers in that system for four weeks but Tuesday I should be back to listening to speakers and I can’t wait to hear the PST in this setting!

I’m hoping my PST will ship sometime next week.
