SALE ! PerfectWave SACD Transport

Now I am burning my 96/24 download files into DVD discs because PST/I2S/DS combo sounded a lot better than playing the same files through Bridge2.

I guess I need to upgrade my streamer to the one that PSA promised to come out by year end, but I didn’t know which year they are talking about.

Hi all, I ordered mine just under the wire (28Oct) - should get it sometime after Thanksgiving. Spinning more disks on my DMP so that I can do a comparison with the PST. I have to say that I was on the fence for quite some time wondering if I needed another transport (I still prefer the sound quality of my DMP into my DSD over Roon streaming even if the margins keep decreasing). Hoping I won’t be disappointed with the purchase. What is the approximate burn-in time most folks are experiencing? Also, I can play Blu-ray music disks to varying degrees from of success with the DMP (sometimes not at all). What has been folks’ experience playing these kind of disks with the PST? Thanks for your time and happy listening!

For me, out of the box the PST tromped the DMP. It does benefit from burn in but it also shouldn’t take you but a few minutes to hear how much better the PST is. Do let us know your findings, please.

Blu-ray Discs and manufactured DVD don’t play in the PST. Another good thing about this sale–you get to keep your DMP perhaps, not have to trade it in. I have set my DMP up in my headphone only system feeding a Stellar GCDAC. It sounds very good doing so!

I agree with @Paul. I played a cd that I was very familiar with and the improvement in sound over the DMP was immediately obvious and very satisfying.
Burn in over the next day or two made a very slight improvement.

Ditto on the PST sounding great out of the box.

Many thanks for the feedback Paul - I’ve only heard good things about this product and was equally intrigued about the sound improvements attributed to the galvanic isolation. I was able to achieve significant improvement on the streaming end from my NAS using fiber optic (an approach to galvanic isolation that I read about in TAS). Will report in the results!

I was leaning toward keeping the DMP as well. Sounds like you have an amazing setup for your headphone listening. Can’t wait to get the PST!

Yes, it’s a bedroom hide-away system mainly for when my wife and her sisters have a gab fest of girl talk, or other occasions when I want to let her watch marathon HGTV series, and I can then seek refuge in the DVR or Blu-ray or audio discs . . . these sources go into the Stellar GSCD and then from there to a Decware ZBOX and a Decware ZROCK2 and then to a PS Audio GCHA and to a pair of ZMF Ori headphones. Great sound! The HCA and Ori are an amazing pairing of amp and headphones and the Decware components let me dial in the sound just the way I want it; DMP and Stellar GCDAC are a great sonic coupling as well. The P10 powers it all. I’m lucky to have this as a third system.

agree the PST great immediately and improved with use…

The gap between PST and DMP performance is bigger than the one between DMP and PWT, IMO.

With a finger roll.

I agree, hands-down! It is magical!

Hi Paul,

While waiting on my NEW PST in Silver, a light bulb above my head idea popped in.

How about you folks at Ps Audio make a burn-in thumb drive full of varied burn-in music, etc for the PST and sell it on your site.

That way we save the actual disc spinner the wear and tear of hundreds of hours break-in.

Thanks,
Tom

I think their response may be along the lines of this:

Music Suited for Burning in a PST

and it would be on us to rip to USB.

I just plug in my gear and play. Life is too long to have to wait, and it gets better as the system plays!

I agree. If anyone thinks I’m not going to listen every moment the thing plays, they’re wrong.

I agree too… mine sounded awesome out of the box, but has improved noticeably with use. I can’t listen casually, the damn system grabs ahold of me!

I remember the PST sounded better after two days, maybe it’s not burning but rather settle in. I had a USB playing continuously for 48 hours (with and without the amps on). But when I played discs the first day the sound was good, but the next day it sounded better.

I was still hearing small improvement a week or two afterward. Then I added a new fuse so I cannot comment on burning after that.
