Schnerzinger Grid Protector EMI Allocator and other things

I would have bet that sooner or later someone would have thought of this!

It seems it never ends! I’m afraid one day I’ll have to try, you are not wrong.

At the moment I’m too lazy and happy to even move anything just a millimeter away from where it is. Simply enjoying music (until the audiophile fever raises again, of course).

Here is the good news, my PZ is full because I plugged in a $49 AC conditioner that is better than the $250 one. So, I have no room anyway since all eight sockets are used. Sigh.

Still, I ordered another premium AC plug-in that cost $250 (11.11 discount from $290) from AliExpress also. If this tweak is better than the one I am using (it is better than Purion btw), then I AM DONE playing with PZ. :man_cartwheeling:

I need to remember that when you’ll purchase your next toy, my friend!

Donald, it seems like you are looking for an alternative to the Schnerzinger Grid Protector. :joy::joy::joy::joy:

I was assured by the manufacturer that no other power supply was required. Even a better cable wouldn’t make a difference. Ok…I’ll probably cut off the plug and install another one.:joy: The angle plug does not fit in my Furutech Vault.

You are right on that! I am always looking for a cheap thrill that can duplicate the expensive thrill. I just do not remember when the last time that I found one. But there is always a possibility.

Will be interesting to see how the grid protector works in dynamic environments - meaning different WiFi’s of neighbors (changing primary channels and 2,4/5 basebands etc)

Donald, we have something in common. :innocent: I can’t remember not trying to question something and looking for a supposedly cheaper alternative.

:heart_eyes:I have to listen now. The grid was delivered and set up today.

So that I can connect the Grid Protector directly to the power strip, I made a short extension cable. The angled plug does not fit in my Furutech Vault because the sockets are far down so that the plugs are shielded against interference.

I like the look of it better down there on the switch. It’s just stupid that it sounds better on the rack and I have to fold up the antenna so that it doesn’t get in the way when I’m watching TV. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I think my system sounds good enough now, and the box remains inconspicuously at the bottom of the switch as additional weight. I wouldn’t have thought that the grid had such a massive, heavy aluminum housing. Now play a little with the switches. Power supply connected or not. With the plug-in power supply, the small LED also lights up. At level 0 this is off, at level 1 the LED lights up, and at level 2 you become blind when you look into the headlight. Level 2 with power supply and LED at full power is too bright for me. Luca, do you have all the switches on level 2? With the power supply connected as room lighting? :joy: In terms of sound, the low frequency range is very controlled and clean. Live recordings have a really great “being there” effect. Every cough or whisper from the audience can be heard more clearly than before. In general, the most subtle noises that would otherwise remain hidden or only be noticed in passing come to the fore even more. Music just brings a little more to life.

Greetings Andreas

Antenna and angle plug? Why? Two things that make me dislike this thing already. I do not think it will make my list.

As I understand it, the antenna is probably used to detect WiFi signals in the area. This means that the Grid Protector can simultaneously take countermeasures to protect the power supply from the WLAN signal. This means that the connected components are not influenced by the WLAN signal.

I sent a message to the contact for buying one of these. I’ll let you know what I hear.

If I understand correctly you plug the AC input for this thing into a PowerZone outlet. There is also the possibility of receiving a (Optional?) wall wart that you plug in somewhere else? And using Unicorn Technology and an antenna it radiates audio healing waves around the room that make everything sound more better and stuff?

And there is another device to consider as well?

And what about their cables??!!!

How deep is this Rabbit Hole?

I started with these settings:

PHASE I - POWER 0 - EARTH II (wall wart unplugged) and the GP fixed cable into a wall socket available (dedicated line).

Then I found that plugging the fixed cable (check the phase pin!) into a PowerZone available socket it improved the performance but the most beautiful thing was that it seemed able to enhance further more all the attributes of the PowerZone itself. No other qualities added, no different sound signature, alterations or changes. Think about the Grid Protector like a PowerZone BOOSTER! I was amazed!

Then I plugged also the wall wart into a wall socket (different circuit from the system) and tried the POWER switch set at I position (LED on) and II position (LED annoyingly on - I immediately covered the little hole to stop that light). This boosted even more the initial effect.

My final preference is

PHASE I (or even II depending on recording)
POWER II (or even I depending on studio vs live albums)
EART II

Once I became more familiar with the NEW sound I just set all the switches at II position and forgot about them definitely.
I initially found pretty unusual a sort of reverb (voices in particular) effect, when POWER switch was set at maximum but the beauty in realism and clean - clear - engaging bass frequencies made me so happy that I repeatedly enjoyed changing it again from I to II position.

This kind of settings configuration also stopped the toroidal transformer subtle buzz I was hearing before (ears very close to the amplifier). Now it is so quiet and it should mean that the current is flowing cleaner and the amp is working better.

Be aware to check the correct phase of your sockets, both the Schuko and the wall wart have a silver dot on the shell’s correct side. Plug them into the correspondent socket holes.

At the end of my listening sessions I switch off the POWER switch on the Grid Protector every day. So the next time I have to remember to switch it on back before starting a new daily dose of music.
Each time I happened to forget to turn it on, oh well, after a few minutes I miss something in sound and as soon as I re-turn it on I can clearly feel in contact with music again. Back to a satisfactory higher level, back with a smile on my face.
I soon lose interest in mind masturbation with the 3 switches of the Grid Protector, set it and forget it! I’m just enjoying the music!

I’m afraid this is a really DEEP one, my friend! What we like more, after all. Isn’t it?

The wall wart is included in the box.

My next step could be the EMI Protector or MULTI GUARDS, haven’t decided yet.

I really don’t know how this thing works.
I really don’t know how the PZ works too, to be honest.
But I’m liking what I’m hearing and it’s enough for me.

Gideon got back to me in minutes. I will get the Grid Protector first. Then the EMI Protector. I hope they do not harm my Bunny!

If it will bring to your stellar system only half the improvement I got in my experience, your bunny will be the luckiest bunny in the world. Wait, she’s already like that.

Maybe the grid protector will keep the bunny away from the cables.

Why not leave it just on?

I am reading that thread over on WhatsBest and it is fairly convincing that no one is talking about a SinRearch Black Tower That Does Nothing. I have to say the guys who are pleased have more detailed information than I provided when going on about the PowerZone. I was certain the improvements it offers were a “can’t be perceived as an option” sort of change, and as such Mighty. I will stand on mighty.

But this thing, god. A square box like you could buy at Radio Shack for $37.99. It has an antenna and two power sources. And it radiates goodness. Come on. That’s so amusing. But the good lads that buy them quickly buy the second of three options. And there are other items I didn’t bother to study.

And then there are the Audio Cables they make. Good God! How deep is this hole??!!
I am jumping in.
