Just to get the right understanding (as I will have one to test just in 1-2 weeks) the GP is always connected via Schuko plug? And can be additionally via the 12V ?
The GP aim is to clean the electricity where it is plugged in via the Schuko, it is mandatory. You can play with right and left switches but the central one has to remain at “0”.
The 12V wall wart must be used only to boost his work, setting the central switch on I or II. It’s not mandatory, let your ears judge.
The GP second benefit is to clean also the area around it (50 cm) like it was a EMI protector.
Thanks for pointing out.
My Grid Protector is supposed to arrive on Saturday. Hmmmmmm.
The German economy and consequently that one of the entire old Continent, depend on your impressions.
It sounds nice = European citizens can assure a future to their children
Meh = the European Central Bank must review interest rates immediately
Can’t hear any difference = expect a wave of immigration to US, we are definitely ruined (Gryphon company will be acquired too by Bose!)
Don’t feel under pressure!
Hopefully it’s like the SR tower experience! And there is a 30 day money back guarantee.
Hopefully the 30 day money back guarantee will not be necessary. Or???
I am hoping to visit Chicagoland and I could easily bring it with me. Plus my Bacch4Mac is all packed up looking for a place to park for awhile. I decided against using it on my computer desk. Although it might be fun on the home theater. @fter Midnight with Bacch. Moohaha.
The Grid Protector feels like it weighs over 50 pounds. Hmmmmmm…
No paperwork in the box. Zero instructions. No power LED. Hmmmmm.
The first manual I downloaded was for a different version. Odd. The second version was for mine. There is a power LED but no matter what I do with the main power switch the LED does not light. First I had the main power plugged into the PowerZone. No LED. Then I plugged it into the wall. No LED. Does the LED only light up with the wall wart connected? Who knows.
I don’t have the system powered up yet so just looking at it I have no way of knowing if it is working. Sigh.
I don’t have time right now to turn on and listen.
Okay, I plugged the Wall Wart in and the power LED works. Kuhl. Now to listen.
Don’t shake it too hard in case the special rock arrangement inside is disrupted.
Did the grid protector replace Darth Vader?
Nothing can replace Darth. See photo. GP on the Apex for now.
I thought darth was on apex but I think I confused it when darth was on the Antileon
Enjoy the next level! Lol
Darth lives on the MU2.
Congrats, can’t wait to know your thoughts about how it sounds.
- Plug the main (fixed) cable into a PZ available outlet (my choice) or into a wall socket as close as possible to PZ (like the same receptacle) = LED light is OFF= central switch set on “0”
- Listen to music while changing at your choice the left and right switches between “0” and “I” and “II” position, until you find/hear (hopefully) the sound you prefer = LED light is still OFF = central switch still set on “0”
- Now you can boost the effect, plug NOW the wall wart into a wall socket which is not on the same dedicated lines of hifi (a general one available in your room shared with the rest of the house for instance) AND set only the central switch on “I’ = LED light is ON and liste, If you want to push the power even further, set the central switch on “II” and listen = the LED light is annoyingly ON like the anti-aircraft lighthouse (I cover it with a piece of tape).
- You might like the sound even if the central switch is set at “0” - in this case you don’t need the wall wart anymore, put it back in the box and forget it (and forget LED light too consequently).
You can change all the switches on the go, while playing music… don’t worry. The maximum effect is with the central switch set at “II” position.
Live albums IMO are the easiest way to become more familiar with the GP settings the very first days in use.
I’m a little bit concerned about the heat coming from the Apex if you place the GP on top of that beast…
Here the manual:
The switch in position 0 is the basic setting. 0 is not over! I specifically asked again, since 0 usually means 0 and “off” to me. The GP also works with position 0. Position 1 or 2 are slightly different in type and depending on this are an alternative to adjustment. I hope you have fun, I’m looking forward to the rabbit’s ear’s verdict.
The “manual” fits on both sides of an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper. It would have fit in the box. Once I read it I came to understand that the power LED works ONLY when the wall wart supply is plugged in. Odd.
The manual also states that one should allow two minutes after making a switch change before listening, as it takes two minutes or so to apply. Fun.
I have the wall wart removed, all three switches set at 0. My system is warming up.
I hope making a switch change is audible.
One of the issues I have with this device is once you plug its main power cord into power, it supposedly starts having an effect. So having done that, there is no way to hear the system without it. If you want to hear the system without it, here are the instructions:
If after a while you want to hear the performance of your system without your
GRID PROTECTOR, the buffering effect absolutely has to be considered. If the GRID PROTECTOR is switched off for a short time only, it still takes effect because of the buffering of the power supply unit.
Detach the power cable of the GRID PROTECTOR for the power grid (if connected also the 12V power supply). Remove the antenna, place the unit on the floor (best stored on the side) and set the middle switch POWER to position 0. Keep these conditions for several hours, preferably overnight. This way you achieve that the GRID PROTECTOR has no effect any more.
Upon recommissioning the interfering fields will be cleared again fast.
So, if I want to hear my system without it I have to do those things and wait the required amount of time. What this suggests to me is when I start listening now, I am listening to its sound. Weird. But Unicorn Technology is always weird I suppose.
Good luck. Lingering artifacts, multiple choices, and the inability to directly compare the device in, and out, of the system, is quite a challenge. I guess the upside is it’s looking for a long relationship, not a cheap date.
I found the LED light really annoying and the wall wart thing counterintuitive.
So I soon set all the buttons to “II” being skeptical and hesitant. And kept them all in place for a while, being also lazy.
Then a big smile appeared on my face!
Out of curiosity I wanted to hear the difference without the little schnerzy thing, so I simply sett all switches at “0” (I know, I know… it is still working in this case) but was enough for me to have a clear idea of with/without sound comparison.
It took me few minutes to understand if it was a marriage or a summer flirt.
All settings (compromises) and acknowledgments, like a marriage, come later…
