I guess in the end, the SGC DAC is a fabulous preamp/DAC so it is well worth dealing with this issue.
Still an ongoing issue and while at times I thought I was making some progress in minimizing the issue, in the end it wins the day. Effects multiple brand TVs (LG, Samsung and Visio), my OPPO BD103, AppleTV 4K and misc. other components. Just too many for it not to be a SGCD PS Audio remote code issue. In the end I just turn off all CEC/HDMI functionality and everything almost gets along - just a major inconvenience.
Paul, all you can say is sorry? This has been going on since 2018? I just bought an 86 inch LG in 2024! There it is hanging on the wall turning on and off my Gain Cell every time I touch the remote? I have an easy solution, get a different brand pre-amp. And while I am at it, no call back, nobody answers the phone. I got a marketing email from Scott and I responded to his email address to understand my problem and see if there was a solution. If you can send out marketing emails to your customers, I am thinking informational email might be helpful too. I knowā¦emails are super expensive. Had I known, I would have changed brands of TV, not my preamp. I am darn near and electronics hoarder. Systems in every room. Never have I had this issue. Sorryā¦thats the best we can do in over 6 years of an issue? Nice
Iām assuming a similar ranting, hate-filled, note was sent to the perpetrators-the guilty ones- of this issue, LG.
Agree with @Palouse.
Please contact LG, the source of the problem.
Yikes. Well, that sucks no one is getting back to you. How are you reaching out and to whom? This I can certainly fix for you.
The problem is, and always will be, that some television manufacturers donāt seem to want to pay attention to the agreed upon standards and rules for IR codes. They are a LOT bigger than us and we simply do not have the bandwidth or engineering resources to suss out all the codes TV manufacturers use. We did know some time ago that LG used some of our our codes (lord knows why) but thereās not a lot we can do about it. Next year we will be switching to proprietary RF codes (as opposed to IR codes) that should help with this.
Thank you for the response Paul. I am a fan, watch your videos, bought and read your book and spend my money with you. The other gentleman that chimed in is incorrect. It was not hate filled. It was how I felt. Perhaps my temperature was a little higher because of the lack of communication from your company. I sent an email to your son Scott. It was July 24 at 9:46 am. I also left a message on the company voice mail. I called several days last week during your stated phone hours that were noted in the message on the answering voice mail⦠I Left one reasonably detailed message where I left my name and phone number. I said my name and my phone number at the beginning and the end of the message to ensure someone would clearly know how to contact me. I think the call I left the message was on monday July 22. 12:19 Eastern.
I am coming to Colorado next month and would like to stop in and listen to the FR30ās. Been thinking about a change in my system. Do I need an appointment?
Thanks againā¦Greg
If it helps, I contacted LG today and put another complaint regarding this issue into their system. I am thinking of getting another TV for another room, and am going to thank @Hoodman for bringing this up, as the TV I get will not be an LG because of this issue.
I went with the Sony OLED 65" for just this reason. We do have the LG OLED 65" TV in one of our listening spaces, sans PSA gear. My wife and I prefer the Sony over the LG for (1) sonics, (2) picture quality, (3) user interface as the LG platform is not to our liking, and (4) we despise the LG motion operated remote as it tends to be hyper active. We ditched the LG remote and use a Roku with its simpler and effective remote solving (3) & (4).
This other tv will not be an OLED. While I love my OLED TV, I want the care-free ability to watch regular tv on it, and without concerns of burn-in.
How does one define regular TV these days, hmmm.
Iām an LG fan of their older sets (mineās 2017 and the OS is brilliant - theyāve changed it since and itās now the same as most, useless). My TV is a feet above the PSA gear and as long as Iām careful I rarely have an issue with the remote. I also like their āmagicā remote and find an ordinary remote rather old fashioned. Each to their own. I have a more recent Philips TV in the bedroom and find the picture very sharp but unnatural and the remote is horrible (totally unusable in the dark).
With my LG OLED (its a CX) I use the iPhone app āLG ThinQā as kind of a workaround for one leg of the issue
Just to put some gas on this fire (because I enjoy it). This LG/PS Audio remote control problem is like a badge of honor. When I hit the mute button or the phono preamp mute on my PS Audio āUniversalā remote. It will turn my LG TV on. An annoyance at first. But after 5 years as a new and used PS Audio products owner.
Iām honoredā¦arenāt you Guys ? LOL or not LOL ? That is the question.
Seems my Roku remote has a side button that shuts down the p5 I have all TV etc plugged into.
