For the longest time I stopped use an ottoman in front of my listening chair because I thought it would mess with the frequency response or screw up the imaging. Finally got tired of crossing my legs or sitting cross legged on my chair and brought the ottoman back into the listening room. I really don’t hear any significant differences, so this is one silly audiophile ritual I will no longer be participating in. So much more comfortable using the ottoman than not.
nothing like a good smoke…
Occasional ice cream as well.
When I was spinning CD’s I had to degause them first with a Bedini degauser gizmo. It was a required ritual. I swore I could hear a difference. I also used to paint the edge of my CD’s with a magic marker. Green sounded best. LOL
Pretty sure I took a green sharpie to the edge of my copy of Van Morrison’s Sense of Wonder. Guessing that was around 1991.
Was surprised I couldn’t tell a difference. Our cute little sony compact stereo system must not have been resolving enough.
Now try that on an all Gryphon system!
I guess it’s a ritual: The first thing I do when I get out of bed is turn on my amp.
I run the “Clean Wave” on my P10 and Stellar PP3 before every listening session.
5 or 60 seconds?
60 seconds on the P10; the PP3 only offers 5 seconds.
I switch back and forth. When a recent cleaning has not been done, everything ges a 60 second shot. Otherwise 5 seconds seems to suffice.
Ah, that’s another ritual I abandoned years ago, marking the edge and center of my cd’s. I’d probably still be doing it but since acquiring the PST I no longer feel it makes a difference.
I would always beseech the the audio god to bestow ample current and low distortion before each listening session…
…cost me a fortune in rum and cigars.
Only if you are going to play Wildthing
Coffee machine first, then amps
My ritual: wake up (too early, by the dog): turn on the amp and start a disc at really low volume, walk the dog and feed the dog and then take the dog to the listening chair and start listening.
I’ve lost weight because this is my routine since my wife has retired, and I sort of inadvertently practice intermittent fasting–I am up between 4 and 5 and I don’t have coffee or food until about 9 or 10 when my wife wakes up. I also sort of have eliminated lunch as I’m not hungry until later, and over the last year I’ve eaten lighter dinners as well. I’ve had to buy new jeans!
Intermittent fasting is a good ritual. I stop eating at 7 pm and usually skip breakfast unless I’m going on a bike ride or hike, then have lunch between noon and 1 pm, and dinner between 5 and 6 pm.
Are saying that my genuflecting towards my system is silly?
It is an altar to audio after all
Light cleaning the system once in a week to remove dust with a “swiffer” tool (I think the brand name is different in US) and hard cleaning once in a month (unplugging re-plugging all). Rituals.
Daily ritual is checking the perfect symmetry of the speakers, using a laser or traditional meter.
I found that both methods have a mentally significantimpact to improve SQ.
