I talked to James and Taylor about the whole release thing and they were not allowed to talk to anyone about this until after the formal release. This was a first in my experience with PS Audio. I’m sure it pained them to fill an order, but they couldn’t even hint that something was coming. As has been said you should contact them and explain the situation. I would think they would accommodate you since you are still in the 30 day trial window. And, they are not hard and fast on the 30 days.
With all the space left in the dac/streamer chassis, it looks like an ICE module of a couple hundred watts would make a complete integrated solution.
Nope. Not for this first block of products. As with all our electronics we make them in house in Boulder, the metalwork is local too. We have already purchased most of the components. However, after this first production run, who knows!
Thank you, Paul. That’s outstanding.

Happy Cake Day!
@vkennedy61 happy cake day; hope you get some black coffee to go with that cake!
Does anyone know if?
- The DAC will have a Beta release prior to full production?
- Are the new products available to see/hear in the demo room in Boulder?
Thank you…
Coffee and cake Vince. Add audio and you have a trifecta.
I’m hopeful that it will have a HT Bypass, ability for a tape loop and 4.0 quad output for multichannel devices. I need a good preamp for my system.
I don’t see that reference to “ESS technology” on the product page. Doesn’t seem likely they’d be using an ESS chip DAC on this reference piece. Maybe someone in the know can clarify details on this DAC. TIA
There are no off-the-shelf DAC chips inside the PMG Signature 512. Not ESS or anyone’s. This is an entirely new form of custom technology that uses two main engines, the PureStream 512 that upsamples and produces a pure, DSD512 output, which is then run through a Digital Lens and into the SpectraWave 64 Sequencer, which is essentially a 64 step ladder DAC configured to process the DSD signal in such a way that the ultrasonic noise is shifted way out into the higher regions where we can easily remove it with a simple 3-pole analog low pass filter, and then out into our direct coupled class A gain stage.
Upon our return from Axpona we will be demoing the new PMG components in the Listening Lab in Boulder, certainly.
There will not be a beta as we have done in the past, but we will be taking preorders on each product and those who sign up early enough get a signed version of the product if they wish.
Nice curves on the chassis’s.
Reminiscent of dCS.
And of the PS Audio wave, but different proportions
Ii am very I interested but I would love to know what the trade in on MKII will be.
It was posted above and said to already be published on PS Audio’s site. Aparently it will be $2125.00.
Yes I tired trade in. But ps audio often does one time upgrade offers. Inhave a feeling that may happen but not until they are ready to ship.
The $2125 is the standard 25% off for trade-in of any brand of hi-fi gear. I’m still hoping for a larger trade-in value for recent PS Audio products.
I believe the $2125.00 figure is based on the max trade-in of 25% of the MSRP of the new component being purchased. 25% of $8500 is $2125.
If past is prelude, PS Audio will treat the balance of the traded-in component MSRP as a credit to be applied to a future PS Audio purchase. Many of us, myself included, still have a credit balance on our account from our DSD MK2 purchase 2+ years ago.
As an example, if a DSD MK2 (with a current MSRP of $7999) is traded-in, it could be applied towards the purchase of three of the new components announced and still have a $1624 credit on account. $7999 - (3 x $2125) = $1624.
I’m not sure what MSRP PS Audio will apply to traded-in DSD MK2s or even if the previous policy will be kept unmodified. I just didn’t want anyone to be mislead into thinking their DSD MK2 was only worth $2125.
I believe I read on this forum that they discontinued the “credit balance” policy a few years back. Those that had existing credit are still able to use this $$ on purchases (up to the component’s stated allowance). Anyone…please correct me if I’m wrong. Respectfully, I don’t want to spread misinformation.
My gut tells me that they will offer a better than the 25% trade allowance on the DSD MKII in the future. Not for this first wave of orders though.
