I did try that, problem is I get attached to that stuff, my dad repaired my Technics SL-P 477A for me.
He made me very happy.
The Technics is now connected via optical and analog to my NAD C 658.

It sounds better than BluOS streaming and it appears that that the Technics 30 years old 4DAC MASH (multistage noise shaping) is no slouch at all and compares well with the modern NAD DAC.
Which tells me that the implementation of the analog section interfacing the DAC determines the Sound Quality, not so much the the DAC itself.
The Stellar Gain Cell DAC I owned made that perfectly clear, OS Audio did not implement the acclaimed flagship ESS DAC, but the unit played beautiful sound.
