So, my first piece of higher end gear was a Sprout100 and I really liked it, but once I moved up, it seemed a bit lacking and has been sitting on a shelf for quite awhile. I feel my main issue was with the DAC as I still think the amp section is quite good (esp for class D). I recently received a Geshelli J2 DAC in trade and thought I would test the Sprout with this external DAC. Paired it with a set of Martin Logan motion 15’s and… wow… quite a big improvement! If you own a Sprout, for a non-major investment of a better DAC, you can really improve the performance of this little powerhouse.
