Subscriptions fixed but you will have to save your preferences

Ok, I believe we fixed the problem with the subscriptions. However, in so doing we hosed all the data for what you were subscribed to. Sorry.

Please go back and subscribe to anything you wish and that should then work, plus it should be editable in your profile under subscriptions.

Lastly, the little windows on the top of the forum showing how many topics your subscribed to only display the number of unread topics there are that you subscribed to. So if you’ve already looked at topics you subscribed to, that number will not display anything.

Make sense?

I no longer see a subscription button at the end of a topic and there is no longer a subscription counter at the top of the forum page.

Same here. There used to be one, but now it’s gone.

Curiously they're there for me (and hence, probably for Paul.)

I can no longer get notifications to new posts to the subscripion that I had been receiving e-mails for new posts since your upgrade. I’ve tried to re-add the subscription, but no luck. Is there still a bug or am I missing something? Any ideas? Thanks.

SF said @nordicbob - Yup, a new bug. Hopefully, they're working on getting a fix implemented soon.
SF, thanks for the confirmation of the bug. It was driving me nuts )-: I also just noticed that the "Smiley Faces" disappeared too, at least on my iPad as I type this.

Bob

No problem, @nordicbob - still have the smileys here (on a laptop), so don’t quite know what’s up with that. Hmm…

Ok guys, still learning. I have now enabled the forum subscriptions. Go to your Forum Profile (click on your picture or avatar) and open edit your profile. Go to subscriptions and now you can subscribe to any forum you wish to.

We’re figuring this out bit by bit.

@Paul McGowan …that’s a nice start, but that isn’t how it worked before. There used to be a blue “Subscribe” button at the bottom of the page. One quick click and you were done. Much nicer interface. We know that it exists somewhere out there and look forward to you (or your team) finding it and re-enabling that feature.

This does not work for me. I still do not see a “subscribe” button at the bottom of a topic and I do not have a “subscriptions” button at the top of a topic.

When I go to my profile, I see a button for setting subscription options, but there are no options listed when I click on that button. There is a button for managing subscriptions, but I can’t subscribe to a topic in the first place.

@DarqueKnight - Wow, yeah, there’s no way to subscribe at all right now. I hadn’t noticed that. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Correct me if I am wrong or seeing something different, but you can subscribe to any topic or forum you wish to. There are two ways to subscribe to a topic: when you post or if you’re just browsing.

To subscribe to any particular topic when you post: simply click on the options button at the bottom and you’ll see the option. Once you do this, then you can open your profile page and turn what you have subscribed to on/off.

To subscribe when you’re just viewing, look to the bottom of the thread page, on top of where all the “who’s online” stuff is and you’ll see a small subscribe button.

Or, you can subscribe to a forum. To do that, it’s pretty intuitive. Open your profile, and there’s a list of forums. I’ve attached a screenshot.

@Paul McGowan – So sorry, Paul, but non-admins don’t seem to have the same options. I’m confident that this issue will be resolved soon, though. The efforts of you and your staff are appreciated as you work through all these various bugs. smile

Right now, there is no subscribe button at the bottom of the screen for regular users; just a watch button. Here’s a screenshot:bottom-buttons.JPG

Going through profile doesn’t seem to work, either. The topics subscription button under the subscriptions tab only shows what topics we currently have subscribed to with no option available to add more. The forums subscription button has a blue button at the bottom, but if we click it, a ‘subscriptions updated’ appears at the top of the screen momentarily, however, we also get " Access denied – you do not have permission". Here are screenshots for those.

After clicking on the blue Update Subscriptions button – access denied:

(P.S. - Apologies for the edit; messed up something with the attachments)

Paul, perhaps you and the other forum administrators should create separate accounts as regular users, then you would experience first hand the issues we are talking about.

@DarqueKnight - Excellent suggestion. I’d give you a ‘thumbs up’ if I could. :)

It’s NOW fixed guys. Just look at the bottom of each page and you’ll now see the subscribe button. Sheesh! This has been quite a leraning curve. Thanks for the feedback and all the help.
