Yes,I did have the Phillips and although they do sound very good…in my system for my tastes the Brimars are much more musical and open with tons of air and a primo midband. The brass cones are footers I had made and no longer use so I’m using them for a little mass loading on the top plate. Plus,I think they look cool,if nothing else.
Great looking system bet it sounds great - thx for the response.
Time for some crazy system close up pics challenge. One of these pics isn’t part of my audio system which one and what is it?
Those are mostly industrial glove molds and are my wife’s idea of funky interior decorating along with the mannequin torso and the other stuff. On the wall to the left side in the photo are Soap Box Derby car wheels mounted for hanging.
The painting in the middle, of which only the lower half is visible, is my selection.
I was wondering about that. The blue PS logo button on the front of one of them looks seriously messed up.
Which is where?
…found it, you need to hover over the whatever it’s called.
Just tap my avatar twice
CrystalConnect. Nice. Me too, but UD level. I think they are made in Netherlands, right?
Beautiful match on sats to subs! Looks like a very full range combo. Congrats
Yep, Crystal Cable is made in the Netherlands. Developed by Gaby van der Kleij, who is partner of Edwin Rijnveld, founder of Siltech Cables
And she who is mentioned there has ended up with quite a bit of $$$ from me.
…anyways she delivers
Some of her cables cost more than anything in the PS stable, by a long way.
Here are mine (I own 3 pairs)
Hi
I’ve been a Spendor fan for nearly 50 yrs. could not afford them in my younger days but when I could in the very early 2000’s they were my 1st thought. I’ve owned three models now, starting with S6’s, then S8e’s and the current D7’s for the last 2.5 yrs. They sound awesome, showing a clean pair of heals to some speakers that cost 3 times as much.
She developed some quirky speakers too, like the top of the line Crystal Cable Absolute Arabesque, €75.000 a pair…
I don’t see myself parting with what I have for a pair of those.
Beautiful system. What type of turntable do you have?
I’m going to have to try them out sometime… If they’re anything like the Harbeths I’ve heard, I’m definitely all over it.
Thx! I know you are a Maggie owner. I have a soft spot for the brand. My first hi-fi system in the mid 80’s was comprised of MG IIIa’s bi-amped with Magnepan external crossovers with twin Adcom GFA-555 amps. Low notes were supplied by a Velodyne ULD15 servo controlled sub. Funny how things seem to repeat themselves. I am now bi-amping via a DSpeaker X4 utilized primarily as a crossover between the Violin SE’s and my subs. Lets me set crossover points and slope. Full range and completely seamless. AMT, rear firing ribbon tweeter, servo subs and the ability to DSP. Re-living my 80’s experience!
