Agree, new year start fresh and leave the past behind us.

It‘s the „Little Reference“ from german manufacturer Creaktiv.

The Luxman is a passive switcher, not an amp
I guess you mean the Line Magnetic tube amp?

Yes, my mistake. Thanks for the close-ups. Beautiful amp.

so @Chops where are you on your tube journey?

A buddy of mine sells tubes, and he also restores old Thorens turntables. He’s had me build some plinths for him to make them a little more customized than the stock bases, so I’ll trade my work for some tubes for the Freya. Gonna meet up with him this weekend to deliver this walnut one I made for a Thorens TD-165 – and to get some tubes!

Bet that Line Magnetic amp is flat out stunning with the lights turned off. One thing I could wish about my rig is the bottles in my BHK Pre and Modwright phono stage were exposed for the sheer aesthetic beauty of vacuum tubes. I love it.

That is some mighty fine plinth work. The tubes had better be really good. What flavor of tubes are you getting in exchange?

I’ll see what he has. The Schiit Freya takes 6NS7, so I might get a few different ones to try. He always has cool stuff in his shop, so I might just accrue credit with him!

Yes, it’s really nice to look at :grinning:

You can buy socket savers to elevate the tubes. I’ve seen some audiophiles stack two for height. This would work but the screen would be left off

Happy New Year everyone… Maybe some changes in store this year but 2019 ended in a good listenable fashion…

Awesome mighty McIntosh amps and Wilsons. Add some analog seasoning? Sure is the right time to dive into vinyl. TTs and LPs have never been better. Enjoy in 2020!

You know that this forum also has a Magico Manic thread, right? Beautiful set up, is the top one a Revox reel to reel?

That plinth is awesome!

That thread’s kinda moved on from Magico, mostly, and most of us aren’t Manic (present co. and self included).

Though your 2nd post did compel me to spin “Around the Plynth”

Or the one on Beck-Ola, if you prefer.

I recognize those loudspeakers. Mmmmmm.
No subs though… Hmmmm.

No subs needed. Actually there is a sub but just for TV. I get that many like a sub in their system no matter what. I can’t argue the benefits. However to really do subs right we are talking a substantial REL or JL investment. For now, I am just fine.

I am 100% streaming. No room for a TT ! lol. The Macs drive the speakers great. Now I wonder what 611s or 1.2s would do? Actually PSA 300s would be fun too… Different synergy for sure though.

Agreed. I have a pair of RELs behind myYvettes. I sometimes listen with the subs off but they seem nice when they are on. I have them doing very low bass only. Thump Thump Thump.

Gorgeous color on the Wilsons, really blends in the surrounding
