Yeah, you could say it was an eye opener. It hasn’t been fun but at least there was no fractured bones. That would have made things much worse.
It feels pretty good now. No pain, but there’s little feeling where the nail is (and will be departing sometime in the near future I’m sure), and it’s somewhat stiff to bend, but I have almost full movement back in it again.

Very true, room treatments are most efficient way to enhance the listening experience.
But:
- It is a science by itself
- and you have to have a separate suitable listening room.
Room treatments truly mean the end of my audiophile hobby when trying to introduce traps/panels into the living room, which we prefer to keep optimized for socializing.
Although your listening room looks good for its purpose with its room treatments. But it can not visually compete with a nice cabinet or pictures on the wall.
@Rudolf_Appel I didn’t always have a dedicated room- LOL! From my Thorens/quad/DIY LS3/5A bedroom set-up as a teen in my parents home to a decade of shared space apartment living, there was a lot of making do with a shared living/listening space and a significant other. That just meant that I was forced to be more clever with how I went about it.
The GIK corners traps I recommended to @Chops would have been practically invisible visually if he chose the correct fabric color to match his paint and/or room decor. His relatively huge Martin Logans would have largely hidden them in any event.
Broadband absorptive panel traps at primary sidewall reflection points can easily be hidden behind drapery, decorative textile wall hangings, or rugs. If your decor is more modern you can have suitable art custom printed directly onto the fabric you wrap your panels in.
I mean no offense but sorry Rudolf, I’m not really buying either your decor-clash justification or @Chops too-expensive justification for not addressing this most basic element in achieving great sound. Instead you’ll both both keep purchasing new gear which somehow fits into your decor and @Chops budget despite the fact that room treatment doesn’t…
Who’s constantly buying new gear? The last gear I bought was the Bifrost DAC, and that was like 8 months ago.
In case you missed it, I am not working at the moment, so my income is less than stellar from workers comp.
Furthermore, when I first looked up tube traps like the ones you have, I came across ASC, and their tube traps are nearly $1200 just for one corner or a room.
And if you saw my thread from a while back, I was almost ready to put in an order for a roomful of GIK products, but then life happened and I had to use those funds elsewhere.
All of these speakers you keep seeing my switch out are all ones that I have owned for 12 years or more now.
Anyway, I shouldn’t have to sit here and explain myself on such things.
It’s a matter of taste and space. I myself would not wish to let noise treatment interfere with the room decoration in the living room. Besides the family couldn’t care less about the sound enhancements, they consider all those panels and traps just take too much space in the living room that is already not a large one.
We have decorative curtains, paintings and bookshelves and those function partly as diffusers, absorbers.
For a dedicated listening room however, your room treatments look good.
Ted Nugent had a song along those lines.
Been a while since I posted and there have been changes 
So, I replaced the B&W’s with Magnepan LRS (and recently put them up on sound anchors). The speaker change made me look to updating amplification and I landed on the Parasound HALO A 21+ (ample amps for the LRSs). The S300 I was using was fine, I just felt I needed a little more oomph. And this new amp provides that in spades. Of course the upgrade bug can bite hard and I decided I wanted to add a DAC and a friend loaned me his Matrix X-Sabre Pro (not the more recent MQA version) and the sound is really great with the A21+ amp. I moved residences sometime in there and managed to shoe horn in some room treatment. I went from a decently large space to a really pretty small room (11’x10’) and the room treatments really help. The mess remains, however. I have moved the PS Audio gear (SGCD and S300) to my bedroom and will continue to enjoy them there. Happy listening!

Very nice! So what are the biggest things you notice going from the Odyssey’s to the CLX’s? Pros, cons?
They just went in today so this is what I’ve heard in a short time listening. The sound stage is huge and cleaner sounding. The odyssey has a big soundstage but not anywhere as big as the CLX. The details in the background are more discernible. They have ok bass but I don’t know if anyone would ever own a pair without subwoofers. Right now I’m using my DirectStream as my Dac with M700’s powering the speakers. I expect the addition of a BHK preamp and a CR-1 crossover will take these speakers to another level. I’d like to hear them with M1200’s or BHK amplifiers in the future someday I think that also will raise the bar.
Very nice. I always like the idea of fullrange panels and I was actively looking for a nice pair of CLS II’s myself up until about a year ago, but then realized it was a fruitless endeavor when I started to think of the size room they would be going in.
Then again, just thinking about it now, look at some of the rooms people put those massive Sound Lab panels in.

Sharp eye! Yes it is! First guitar I bought (worked an entire summer to scrap together the cash for it). On the rack is also a Fender Strat (Sienna Sunburst American), and a cheap Tele copy (hollow body). What you can’t see is the two acoustic guitars, a Ibanez steel string and a 1958 Goya G-10.
A couple of days and all I can say is WOW! The CLX sound is amazing and far exceeds the ML odyssey in every aspect except for maybe low frequencies. Sound stage and clarity is abundant and I’m hearing little details and voices better than ever! The audiophile in me is patiently waiting for a BHK preamp to take this system up a notch and as great as the M700’s make these speakers sing I can’t stop wondering what the M1200’s are capable of doing with these speakers!
You’ve already got more than enough power with the M700’s. The main difference with the M1200’s are the tube input stage. You’d be better served with the BHK pre as you’d most likely gain more improvements with it alone more so than than you would with the M1200’s. I don’t think you’d benefit much is any from the extra 500 watts going to those CLX’s.
Just my 2 cents of course.
The M1200s not only offer Darren’s tubed input stage, but the 1200 ICE output stage sounds significantly better. Sure the extra headroom is excellent, but the actual output is considerably better.
