I think the civility post was clearly addressed to the right person and one who needs the lesson.
That you understood the three point of civil behavior and STILL haven’t used them.
What needs to be dropped is the idea that anyone is attacking you, and that there are proper ways to answer ANY post in a civil manner such that this BLOG remains somewhere we all want to visit and enjoy. There was nothing negative in my post towards your earlier contribution, just the opposite, I expanded on your good point - be careful with power on electrostatic speakers, they need a lot, but the limit is harsh.
You can be a great resource, but temper your anger, and that’s what it is, and learn to be more civil and people’s opinion of you, and your effectiveness, will go up. I see no reason it shouldn’t. We are all glad to have you, even more so without this unwarrented sensitivity.

Just because you’re an engineer doesn’t mean that everyone else is stupid, and it doesn’t give you the right to attempt to make others look bad or wrong, OR preach to them. It’s quite obvious I’m NOT the only one here that can see right through you and your nonsense. And I might also add, you arrogance.
Short update on my journey. While I’m waiting for some Diffusor’s to be built, I’m experimenting a bit on my front wall (behind the speakers). Over the weekend, I added a temporary 5x7’ rug just to see how it responded.
With my speaker baffles set 51” into the room, it did help very slightly with the allusion of depth and tamed a bit of flutter echo; unfortunately, It absorbs too much high frequency, giving a sense of “dead space” in depth as well. While I don’t mind that sense behind me - for instance, the sense of being outside at a live concert with nothing but darkness behind me - I want more liveliness in front of me. It was worth the experiment, overall, to understand how my room responds.

Good findings and thanks for sharing. I much prefer a live room. More than I should probably. My system is surrounded by windows and I love how fun it sounds. Imaging and space isn’t as ambiguous as an onlooker would assume. I’m curious to hear what you think when you get the diffusers in there.
Hi @Senna1a, your observation about the wall mounted rug absorbing too much high frequencies is spot on. However… That doesn’t automatically prove that you wouldn’t want to put broadband absorption there. The relatively thin rug (but quite large in surface area) is only absorbing very high frequencies, and thus skewing the perceived frequency balance in the room. And because it is only absorbing the highest frequencies, you haven’t effectively reduced/removed the problematic reflection and therefore not achieved the benefits you were hoping for.
If the rug was replaced with two or three 2’Wx4’Hx4-6"Depth broadband absorption panels (Or you hid those panels behind the rug), you would realize the full benefit of intercepting early reflections without skewing the rooms tonal balance. A proper 4-6" thick broadband panel will uniformly absorb from the highest frequencies all the way down into the lower midrange. If you remove the entire frequency range of unwanted primary reflections and you don’t overdo it, you realize the benefit of room treatment without the downside.

That is precisely the formula I went with @senna1a. My acoustician is a studio guy and so as per the line drawing, his initial recommendation was 8 horizontal feet of 4’ tall, 6" thick broadband absorbers across the front wall. Most small studio design guys will recommend copious quantities of broadband traps first.
I actually chose to go with a large central poly-cylindrical diffuser flanked by a pair of 2’x4’x5" broadband traps. The Poly is 8’ tall and 3-1/2’ wide and almost a foot deep. The internal volume of the poly diffuser is loosely stuffed with fiberglass and the open ends capped with fabric so it performs double duty as a bass trap.

but, i don’t notice any attention devoted to the floor or ceiling…or the bass cabinets…
how did you address those concerns?
There is a 4’x10’x6" “ceiling cloud” broadband absorption panel suspended several inches off the ceiling which spans the primary reflection for the LCR mains @iron. This existing ceiling trap should also look after the primary reflection for the front pair of (ATC SCM12i) Atmos ceiling speaker channels which are about to go up. The K&M ceiling speaker mounting brackets just arrived from Germany after a 3 month wait (Immersive Audio here we come!). After the front and rear Atmos ceiling channels are up in place, I may consider a second ceiling cloud to address reflections from the rear channels. I’m not certain whether it will be necessary.
As for the floor, the shag rug is plain to see. It extends all the way past the seating to the stands for the rear pair of ATCs so it addresses primary floor reflections for all 5 identical ATC bed loudspeakers. The rug sits on top of a 1/2" thick wool felt underpad which makes for about as acoustically effective a practical floor covering as you can achieve.
Bass trapping for the entire loudspeaker/subwoofer system is addressed by the floor-to-ceiling ASC TubeTrap stacks (16" diameter Iso-thermal up front, 20" in rear) in all four room corners. There are also another pair of Seaton Submersive HP subs identically placed on the rear wall. The modal averaging of the asymmetrical sub array placement vs the listening position helps smooth out the modal bass bumps some. The Xilica DCP-3060 PEQ inserted in front of the front and rear subwoofer signal feeds further tidies up the sub-50Hz modal misbehavior where even those huge 16" & 20" TubeTraps become largely ineffective.
Where’s Waldo fans will note the two additional Tube Traps in the the upper of the above two pics. These two traps were just added on Thursday evening after some measurement work with Jim the acoustician revealed an SBIR suck-out caused by the L&R fronts’ proximity to the sidewalls. While the two additional 72x13" TubeTraps completely fixed the suckout (and widened the soundstage!), they are pretty visually cumbersome- LOL! I plan to replace them with an additional pair of lower profile custom sized 6" panel traps.
What does the room feel like to sit in and talk (assuming you let anyone other than yourself in there)?

hmmm. my listening space is also where i entertain visitors, i guess a dedicated space is goin to be different. it’s a genuine question though - recording studio control rooms are often not very pleasant to sit and talk in, as an example of what i’m getting at 
It isn’t anything I say or do, I’m alone 95% of the time when I have my main system on. But it may be subject to change since the wife has filed for her retirement today.
