No worries at all, Rudolf. And thank you for the kind words. One thing that definitely keeps me enthusiastic is music, and the system is a major part of it all.
Small but sounds good

Belkin PF 60 For Power, need it for surge protection, living in the lightning capitol of the world!!
Love it. If they had those black drivers when I bought the LS50 I would have kept them for my living room. The wife absolutely would not let the orange drivers out there. Odd since she went to U Of Texas and the color is remarkably close to school color.
Most definitely, yes. I ran them on my mostly PSA system (300’s, DS DAC etc…) with very satisfying results in a 12x14 listening room in a near field setup. I am now running other KEF’s which are 8x the price in the same room and I assure you not 8x different in sound quality; much closer that you would think.
Ouch! To Answer your Question, NO, and yes this set up is in a small room. The last time I checked, the Amp drives the speakers, So is the Marantz pm 15 S1 overkill for the Kef’s? NO.
No question and no snob. A remark. Linn promotes source first and I agree with that. I have my 20 years old Yamaha MSP5 monitors connected to the Stellar Gain Cell DAC, a set of EUR 350 to 500 active speakers on a EUR 1800 pre amp/DAC and I am happy with the set.
Will it sound better with new and more costly speakers, certainly. But this is how I like it best.
Main reason: I only replace when something is seriously kaput. Like my Technics CD player that is now Starting to loose track on higher density CD’s. Will I buy a new one, not sure yet. The ripped lossless files sound so good I can not hear significant differences other that they play fluently. But I keep buying CD’s and records, and adding the nostalgia, I prefer to spin the CD’s. So somehow someday there might be a replacement.
Lovely room, and my sincerest condolences for your loss, pets really are special creatures, and they can never be replaced, only succeeded. May she rest easy and find a big bone in heaven.
A fact of life in an average living room. Too many factors that cause more and more compromises that may influence the sound quality.
It amazes me too how good my own system still sounds with all those compromises
You need a dedicated listening room or large enough living room to do what you need to do for ideal sound quality.
Nothing is ideal or available to everybody, so sound systems should be engineered to sound good in subpar circumstances.
Practical tips for living room treatment are, random placed furniture (bass traps), bookshelves and racks (diffusers) and curtains. If that is not enough a carpet on the floor.
The best music is shared with your loved ones and friends, so practically the living room is the best listening room.
