System Photos!

To all you Rega RP10 owners that want to try using your deck in skeleton configuration with a P10/Planar 10 dust cover. I’ve made a minor mod to the plinth of my table to allow use of this minimalist dust cover. I used an aluminum rivet nut as an insert to locate the pin from the cover. Looks and works great.

Edit: BTW the rivet nut size is an M6.

And I used a 3/8” drill bit and silicone RTV to secure. Recommend a small pilot drill first.

Finally, I purchased the P10 dust cover from HiFi Heaven for $160. Not cheap but beautifully made piece. Much prettier in the flesh than in pictures.

Swapped out the Schiit Aegir amps for a single Roksan Caspian Mk I amp. Also removed the DAT recorder.

what are you noticing as differences between the Schiits and the Rocksan?

A wonderfully clean looking stack and it includes so much. It is probably 50% to 70% smaller than my stack and I don’t have a turntable.

Honestly haven’t had a chance to listen to it really yet except late at night at low volumes.

Thank you sir! Do you have your system posted?

well dammit get those Aegirs back in the mix and A/B it for us!

Somewhere, not in system photos because I am still setting it up. But I did post a picture which shows a baby mouse on the BHK pre. So, there are two of us in my house that love music. I am not good or patient with pasting photos, but for the mouse’s sake,

We are now playing Anna Clyne’s Dance for Cello and Orchestra 2020; just loaded my new CD (with thank yous to @Chrisj1948)
Also I hope that I don’t startle the cellist.

I take it the mouse is a pet? Looks like he’s keeping warm above the tubes in the BHK. LOL

Perhaps the mouse is an audiophile coming out of hiding…
just to show appreciation of his good fortune of living in
an audiophile’s home…

Mr. @davida is correct, although the floor is very cold, so the warm tubes were welcome.

So the mouse may have an ulterior motive…the little rascal…
might have a sweet spot there!!

Sweet spot, yes. I will have to put a piece of blue tape there for the little guy’s reference.

Might want to be a real nice host and leave a peanut there for
the little feller…as well :grinning:

The Roksan is borrowed from one of my brothers as the Aegir amps are packed up, waiting for someone to purchase them.

New rack and speaker stands. Black walnut. The JL e110 subs are also upgrades from the Dominions in my previous pic.

That is one beautiful rack…I really like the walnut and the thickness
of the shelves…also the open design…Did you make it ? If not
who is the maker?

No, I did not make it. Massif Audio in Waterloo, Ontario made it. I’d seen their racks in various dealers in the Toronto area and at the Toronto audio show over the past 6 or 7 years and have lusted after them for quite a while. They make beautiful racks using a wide selection of woods, both domestic and foreign.

One change to the system today. Valves are back in the house.

By way of clarification, the phono preamplifier has gone from this

to this.

Given they are relatively budget devices and the power supply is in the same box, they both feature power on one side and the amplification on the other, separate by a steel wall. The solid state one encases the circuits in a double aluminium shell, but it is still sensitive to external power sources.
