Thank you this is great information. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me.
This is definitely one path I would consider when upgrading from my current H360.
One thing I forgot to mention is to consider whether you have/want balanced or unbalanced connections. The older PLs are RCAs while the newer EVO series have additional balanced connections.
Very nice! What brand is your audiorack?
Thanks, I was looking for a rack for a long time but did not find any that was perfect for my system… So I made it myself using wooden plates, steel tubes and threaded rods . Wodden plate is maple and treatet with black furniture oil.
Beautiful kit…
What brand/model of preamp (the top middle box with the four knobs) are you using?
Cheers.
A completely different system from 8 years ago:
Bryston amp, Linn Akurate streamer/DAC, Ava Media server (Naim clone and better) and Isotek Evo conditioner). A very nice streaming system, but the Bryston took ages to warm up. The Clearaudio looks good but I hated the unipivot arm.
Top middle box is my preamp, Audio Valve Eclipse, very nice piece of a German retro looking preamp with tubes. Great sounding and perfect match with the 1200s that also have tubes on the input. So my hifi stereo system is Auralic Altair G1 streamer/DAC, PS Audio M1200s, Piega Coax 90.2 speakers . Other components in rack is Denon AV receiver, Sony blu-ray/SACD, Proac center speaker, tv decoder and gaming box. In the back of my living room I also have Kef rear channel speaker and sub for blu-ray concerts and movies.
Love the aesthetic…
Glad to hear is sounds as good as it looks.
Thanks for the reply.
Always had an itch for Piega, but they never really caught on in the UK.
I am strongly considering the same sub. What more can you tell me?
That is criminally beautiful!!! I just hate talented people!
One of the main reasons I purchased it is it can be used as both a ported sub and a sealed sub. This provides the best of both worlds from my perspective since my system is dual purpose - Home Theater and Music. That flexibility, the ability to reach down to 13 Hz in extended mode (one port plugged), the fact that it was going in a man-den, so didn’t need to fit with the decor, and finally, I really do get pants flapping bass.
Lastly, I only had one sub for about a year, but the room always felt bass-heavy on that side of the room. Once I added the second sub, things evened out nicely.
I hope this helped.
Very nice. I had Contours for about 12 years (the old 1.1), I heard the new ones at the launch in Hammersmith about 3 or 4 years ago. Very impressed. I spoke to one of their engineers and they explained the difficulty they had in improving the drivers from the previous ones, which go back to the late 1980s. They also explained that the engineers’ brief was basically to squeeze as much product as possible to a fixed price point, for a range of 3 speakers. I think they succeeded. I trust you are happy with them.
Wow, nice effort!
Thanks for the encouraging comment Steve. I have owned this C20 for about 2 years, and I like their sound. I was so close to buying Spendor D7 when I took the decision to go for stand mounters.
The D7’s probably have better bass and the C20 better dynamics, so I would have made the same choice as you. The C20’s probably like being driven by the Class D mono blocks.
Is it not possible to wall mount the P10? Rega spent an age designing the feet, but the Alpheta 3 could suffer a bit from high frequency vibration. Otherwise maybe put the P20 closest to the floor, the lighter stuff higher up and the P10 on the shelf with the shortest legs.
Just got a P8 and lovin’ it. That table dances on air. BTW I like that stand. I a curious as to what brand it is as I am still on the hunt for a new stand for our summer home.
