When I said I gave it away, I left it outside expecting it to be taken. It was still there. It’s in the original packaging and the remote is in there. Happy to send if you pay the postage. Will obviously check it works. It has coax and optical digital outputs.
Steven, that is an excellent deal for John @joma0711.
Perhaps he can even pick it up (thought John lives in London as well).
Happy New Year guys!
Very kind, and accepted with a great big smile
Still bathroom replacement chaos here, despite tier 4, will message directly and arrange something, again, many thanks
Nah we are on The Wirral about 200 miles away, and the UK is locked down for all but essential (and politicians
).
The royal mail still function well, and now will do parcel collection too
If it’s been outside watch for condensation when you bring it in - it’s bloomin’ freezing out there!
I know - we had all doors and windows wide open ll day from 8 am to improve our chances of surviving the plague-plumbers traipsing around the house all day - it was 3 degrees in the hallway by 5 pm ![]()
If it lay outside for one night up here in the East Neuk - it would be an Ice
Sculpture.
A kind gesture. Between SS and ‘you know
who’, you’ll soon have another system…!
Just don’t tell Liz
now I really am going to bed!
I was looking at selling the Revel Ultima Studio before moving here, worried that in this space (lots of bare wall, glass, terrazzo), the sound would be a glaring, fuzzy mess. Not so! My previous room had lots of ASC treatment, but I’ve traded a very focused and deep soundstage for a livelier, more engaging sound. You’d think I could live with that.
I would like to take one of two incredibly different steps. Either some acoustic treatment that doesn’t aesthetically mess up things too badly, or pull the trigger on a pair of Martin Logan CLX + two Depth i subwoofers (my Revel sub needs replacing anyway).
The contiguous space in this part of the condo I estimate at over 10,000 ft³ with 11 ft ceilings. There are mesh blinds for all of the windows.
You can all please help by suggesting effective and aesthetically suitable acoustic treatments and/or tell me if and how I might love the CLXs! (It’s okay to tell me I’m nuts.) Distance to wall behind the speakers is pretty flexible. (BTW, I’d considered my home state Maggies, but even the 3.7i is much larger than the CLS and doesn’t have the cool see-through quality.)
Thank you and happy listening!
If you are a fan of Maggie’s check out some of the “lower” end MBl speakers. I recently converted from Maggie 20.7 to MBl 120s to now MBL 101s. The 120s have a small footprint and work well in a space like yours.
There was a plastic container on top of it so it was absolutely fine and only there a few hours and it was strangely dry. The unit was also inside a plastic bag. Had a ruthless clear-out of the attic on Sunday night as had to find space for new hifi boxes and lots of stuff for my own building work storage.
I also found another one that has a coaxial out, it was a DVD player that we used in the bedroom. Vintage 2007. Panasonic DVD-S53. It actually has an HDMI video output as well as SCART. There’s one on eBay for £30 that seems a lot. It was £99 new.
I have pair of CLX’s and they are excellent speakers! Subs are a must! You might have to go the route of pre owned because the word is Martin Logan has discontinued the CLX speakers. The last time I checked the Martin Logan owners forum supposedly the last pair is available now and once they have sold they will be gone. I’ll post a copy of what he put on Martin Logan Owners forums.
Hello everyone, just wanted to see if anyone is interested in CLX pair in dark cherry? I’ve managed to get one more from the factory. You could be the lucky owner of the very last pair of new CLXs! They’re in the process of being manufactured now expected delivery in about a month. Let me know if you’re interested.I can reached by phone or text at 830-DAVINCI (830-328-4624) or email shawn@DAVINCIMEDIA.com. Thanks and happy new year everyone!
Hope this helps out.
Paul
Also, if you’re considering electrostats please check out Sanders Sound Systems Model 10e system. I’ve been extremely pleased with Roger’s equipment and their support and service is second to none.
EDIT: Subs are not a must but can improve the very deepest bass.
Just finished putting together my first system! We moved into our first house about a year ago. During the renovation I had the opportunity to install cable runs in the walls for a clean look. I have always been hesitant about making my first real investment because our previous years of apt living have left me under the constant threat of neighbors complaining about noise. Anyway, I am really enjoying the experience and am grateful to the PS audio team for offering advice and answering questions. The space is challenging as the left side of the living room is totally open to the kitchen. I love the performance so far but I intend to keep tinkering with speaker placment. I’m already thinking about upgrades. (the disease is real)
PS Audio Stellar GCD
PS Audio S300
Monitor Audio Gold 200’s
REL T7i
Custom Built PC for Media
Congrats! Looks super nice.
Ahhh. The uncluttered look of a new house. Nice looking system!
Love it John! Thanks for sharing!
That’s really lovely, looks like a lovely space and loving those floors!
Hot water baseboard heat !! I grew up with that from '63 to '88 when I got married.
It’s the BEST for healthy sinuses and lungs.
I miss that and my parents
Nice and clean looking setup !!
lol, good catch. Not the best looking heaters but I agree they work very well and don’t dry out the air like forced air. I replaced all the covers and internal piping and fins. We are in Huntington, NY. Very old area and house has no gas service at the moment so i’m stuck with oil $$. Gas is available, I just need to upgrade the boiler and stuff at the same time. It never ends. BTW thanks everyone for the kind words.
FYI:
If you can afford it when you do the changeover to gas try to include a Generac natural gas powered whole house generator for power outages.
One of the BEST investments I ever did and I’m in central NJ
