System Photos!

Nice gear and clearly a lovely older home but I can hear the slap echo from here- LOL! @John_Amato is in need of acoustic treatment on those beautiful bare plaster walls…

Very nice and simple!

My first Tube Amp ever. I’m hooked ! Jolida 3502p. I replaced the factory 6550’s with KT150’s and refreshed the BAT Preamp with 8 6H30’s. With the KEF LS50 Meta’s and bass extension courtesy of a pair of KEF 105/3’s (top section disconnected) with a miniDSP LPF of 60Hz (L-R 48dB/Octave), it’s the best I’ve ever heard. I can’t go back to Transistor’s. I can’t describe why it sounds better, it just does.

Wow decent winter in Scotland then, better then the nasty cold rain we get in The Netherlands.

I sent you a PM @Dirk hope you get a chance to read it.

Cold rain is standard here in the north west of uk too, it’s only scotland and the northeast usually get decent snow.
If we get snow at all here it melts and re freezes over the next few days making getting about rather interesting.
I think in places like Sweden where they have snow and continuous minus conditions it’s a lot safer to drive and walk on

Nice - ultra Linear A/b with el34s would be similar to my old Beam Echo mono blocks, still much missed

Welcome to Tubes!!! I absolutely love the way you say “I can’t describe why it sounds better, it just does”… that’s exactly how I find it… My audiophile vocabulary isn’t anywhere near coherent enough to describe the difference I’m hearing, but it’s so utterly enveloping and more inviting for me than solid state.

So happy for you! Looks like a very capable model also, congrats!

Nice. I will be awaiting a YouTube review! :grinning:

You bet and they have spiked winter tires where there is often snow.

Quick picture of the finished desktop home office setup. Really starting to enjoy the Lumin U1 mini and DS Jr paired with my LTA MZ2.

Next upgrade is Roon Nuc build.

Nice setup. Is that a voice center? Instead of the CLX have you thought about the Ultima 2 or BE series? They both are excellent. I haven’t heard the 328’s but have heard the 228, 226 and I listen to the Salon II’s every day.

I’m intrigued by the Salon 2’s. How would you characterize their sonic signature? And how much room would you recommend for them to sing? I’ve heard the 328Be in two different dealers. One with Mark Levinson gear, which I loved, and another with McIntosh, which I absolutely abhorred. Hence couldn’t pull the trigger. I realize the Salon is different from the 328.

I am curious as well. I have just recently auditioned the 228Be. It was a little forward for my listening preference with a slight emphasis on leading edges. I then listed to the Salon 2 which reinforced my opinion of the 228Be. I found the Salon 2 to be exquisite driven by an Ayre AX-5 Twenty. The cable loom was Nordost Vahalla 2. The combination had the timbre right with a continuousness across the frequency spectrum. Leading edges and the highs were just right, not over emphasized. The bottom end was solid, unfortunately the speakers would overwhelm the room, they are just too big. I did inquire about the Studio 2, which is a scaled down version and most likely would do the trick. Again, unfortunately, these have been discontinued and were unavailable for audition. Should a new pair turn up I just might pull the trigger.

I’m not sure how I would characterize their sound. I guess smooth out be the right word and I don’t feel like they over emphasize any certain frequency band. Off axis response is great. These are the same speakers Floyd Toole uses. Is saw a picture of his listening / living room and he has a cool setup where he has them inverted. I think Dolby labs also uses them in 9 channel surround system.

Mine are about 4 feet from the font wall and I probably sit 10 feet from them. Not sure on the optimal room size but the manual list pulling them 3 feet away from the front wall. Each speaker has boundary compensation switches, which allow you to adjust bass output dependent on the placement of the speaker.

There’s a used pair of CLX that includes two Depth i subs. I’m looking for a change overall, not just an incremental upgrade. Just not sure of two things. Will electrostats work in my room, and do I want to further block my windows overlooking Landmark Park?

Part of this stems from owning original CLS that I never used as my 15 year ago house build wouldn’t have worked.
