Really, really looks great! What a wonderful setup. Thanks. Were you able to post this on our HiFi Family system section?
Yeah they upsold me on the Titans too even before they were released for sale.
Thie lead speaker designer from Sonus Faber talks about their isolation systems and essentially preaches the same story as iso-accoustics about 40 to 45 minutes into this video. He talks about matching the weight of speaker how spikes are only good in certain areas.
Thought I´d share some old photos before I knew streaming or even PS Audio
Sort of miss those big old Dunlavy´s .
Nice. Which model were the speakers? A friend of mine still has the Marquis. He drives them using a pair of Audio Resarch classics.
They were Dunlavy sc-iv´s. When I bought them the seller used Audio Research Reference 110 amp to drive them and they sounded really good there. I tried everything I could find with them and always preferred Gamut m250mk3 monos
other amps were better on some aspects but overall they just delivered.
Nice. BTW, is that an AC on toward the top of the back wall? If so, how do you like it?
Yup that´s air to air heat pump and it halved my electric bill,so i pretty much loved it
Very nice speakers, along with their Duntech brethren. Sony used them in its multi-channel mixing/mastering studio for quite a while.
Didn´t know that so thanks for telling. Do you know where that was and did you get to hear them? They were legendary speakers and they sounded better than many newer designs from big well known manufacturers. It wasn´t until I got these Tekton´s when I finally put them for sale
We had only one pair of biggest sc-vi´s in Finland and they were my dream speakers at the time. Never managed to buy them.
M250 is very serious.
John Marks wrote in Stereophile some years back Sony Studios NYC imported Duntech Princesses from Australia.
I have a pair of SC-IVa. Spectacular speakers. John Dunlavy’s thing was time and phase coherency. They need a large room and space from all walls and the listener to sound their best.
Dunlavy measured flat freq.response from 3m away and that is their recommended minimum listening distance.Tweeters were matched pairs to 0.25db accuracy. They claimed also to be comparable to best DA converters what came to time and phase coherency at the time. Truly remarkable specs and speakers. Your newer version sc-iva bass goes much lower, below 20hz and has a bit hotter top end than what I had.
Only problem was to buy new tweeters every now and then when I ( or someone else ) played them too loud and tweeters popped
well not actually tweeter but the wire acted like a fuse and it burned when got too hot after some punishment
He tested every speaker in an anechoic chamber and would send you the test results upon request.
The SC-IVa also had much better drivers, as well as updated crossovers.
John did not believe in fuses, noting they harm the sound.
One does need to listen at a bit of a distance.
An impressive aspect of the design is even when spread wide apart the image/soundstage does not collapse.
He didn´t believe in cables either
said it doesn´t matter with his speakers, lol !
Yes, and amusingly ended up selling his own cables due to high demand that he do so. He literally stated, do not buy these but I will sell them to you if you must have them.
I have a pair.
  They are actually quite good.
It is too bad he is no longer around to hear how good cables have become.
And sadly he passed away too early because he had new models coming out and no one could continue his work. Well the legends live and his speakers are still comparable to pretty much everything out there. Quite an accomplishment for 20+ year old speakers
Roger Russell says the same about cables on his site. He assisted me with advice setting up my XR290 speakers. The big line array speakers sound great with common wire but phenomenal with Galen’s Iconoclast line that address phase issues. The other fix for big line arrays where tweeters and mids share bass towers is the Isoaccoustic Titan isolators. Man did those take clarity and openness to a whole other level on my XR290s. I bet you would like Dunlavy more had they been available.
Following up…how much do yours/these weigh?
I never really played much with speaker isolators because Dunlavy´s had those big chunky bases to keep them up straight preventing them from falling down. So I just let them be. My Gamut amps react strongly on what they sit on,and when I demoed that to friends they were shocked, literally
Ikea Lack tables costing 5€ were the best isolators
Actually my big XR290s feel more stable with the isolation if trying to tip them . If I lived in Southern CA near a fault line seems they would work better than normal feet to keep them upright. Seems somebody put casters under this pair Isoacoustic Titan under these VI’s i bet would be more stable.
