The standard of measurement for all Wilson speakers is a shoebox. The sweet spot is always the size of a shoebox in all dimensions.

It is small but if you are in it it seems nice.

I listened to the WANM Master.Chronsonic It sweetspot was three theater seates about 4 rows back. Great Image but so gray sounding and dull That was Burnester 159. I would kill to hear a pair driven by D’agostino Relentless.

Come over and listen to mine and you’ll see (hear) that that isn’t true.
Oh, and when you come, please bring a cable that was made by those Stealth guys.

I had and quite enjoyed Wilson Yvettes. More than one person who sat in the listening chair would move their head to the right and then left and comment that the sound changeed when they did that. Well dont do that then I’d tell them. For me, I believe it is true from personal experience. It was never a problem for me though. I respect Wilson speakers!

Come over. I don’t have Yvettes.

I tend to think that users of Wilson speaker designs must either be single or have very tolerant wives. Or the question of whether the speakers or the wife should stay. Forgiveness. No matter how good the speakers sound, I don’t like the case design. By the way. With an SR Master fuse, the sweet spot also gets wider. Greetings Andrew

Wow, those blind my eyes…

Edit: BTW, what’s that mysterious yellow tweak in front of the speaker?

if water rises, can you hang them on a hook or loop tie them to the rafters?

It was a Bunny toy. I surgically removed it.

Skilfully so! :grinning:
So, the speakers are in front of the Bunny fence? Not afraid of the tiniest nibble on the speaker or cable (of which I see none)?

Speaker cables go through an arch in the back on the bottom of the speaker. Cables connect under the speaker. It’s a total pain in the butt. Butt in this case, I just put carpet over the speaker cables behind the speakers and under the cage. She chews on that carpet for hours each day trying to get at the cables below. It is an endless battle for both of us.

Been there. We used to have a family of bunnies that were not supposed to get behind the rig when temporarily freed from their cage in the back garden during summer days.
No surprise there were unattended moments… Lucky never with fatalities or loss of connection.

I remember being truly amazed when I walked into the room at Axpona and heard those speakers for the first time.

Why do they make me hungry for DQ?

So I was just playing this album Saturday afternoon. It’s not the best recording of this piece, but it’s not bad either. (BTW, I played this piece back when I was in orchestra, 1st chair bass, and loved it).

Anyway, so I was playing this piece this past Saturday afternoon through my Quad Artera Pre preamp, and was really cranking it by the 4th track.

Track 4: Maestoso - Allegro

Bass from the pipe organ rumbling at full tutti, orchestra at full tilt, brass, winds and percussions blasting, and I was happy and the system was sounding pretty darn good! I had a big ol’ smile on my chops!

Well… I just did it again today, literally moments ago, only this time with the Pass XP-20 in the chain. This is the first time I really opened up the taps on the XP-20, all the way up to “68” on the volume!

Let me tell you, it was a totally different experience! A whole lot more visceral, a lot more tactile, a sense of a much larger venue, more air and space and dimension between the instruments. There’s more texture and inner detail throughout. Stage width and depth are greater.

And this is with the XP-20 being on for roughly 30 hours straight so far. Anther 20 to 30 hours might improve things a little more. Who knows. It was packed up for around 3 to 4 weeks, so it may have some “waking up” to do again.

Not to sidetrack because this post is about the improvements the Pass XP-20 brings to my system, but I have to say again how impressed I am with this old Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2 amp of mine as well. This is three different times now that I have hear this amp scale up with the upgrades I have made upstream.

There’s a lot better amps out there, I know. But for what it is and what it’s capable of doing is pretty darn amazing. This is a good thing. This will allow me to be happy to hold onto this amp for a while longer and save up at my leisure for an amp or amps that will truly take the system up a few more notches.

More to come, I’m sure.

I spy an advanced version of an ASRMC in the background, prototype, or production unit in for final certification? I wonder…

Certification is all I ever think about.
That and Badges.
