Maggies and a Death Star. Plus the Falcon. Oh. And some great audio equipment. I’m green with envy.
Took me near six months to build the Falcon. The details are incredible. But my favorite still is the Ghostbusters HQ
I did this to protect the 15 inch woofer that was within reach of my little ones:
And finally, over top of the frame, I put mosquito netting to stop pencils and little fingers poking through between the ribs of the woofer protection grill.
Although re-coning these professional grade speakers is a simple matter, I prefer to take precautions while the kids are small.
Fortunately the mid range and tweeters are entirely out of reach!
I love my Saturn V. I got that at the LEGO store on release day. I tried to buy two and was told one per customer. “Why do you want two, Sir? One to build and one to collect?” “Nope. They’re both for building.”
So my son just had to wait to get his.
I like to have that next to my Wright Flyer set. It’s inspiring to see.
My kids are pretty conscientious of my speakers. It’s their friends that give me pause. Fortunately it’s easy enough to turn the LS50s to face the wall.
Wow.
And as a post must be at least eight characters: wow.
What is this? Where did you find this? Does it eat faces, too?
At least you have a Dragonfly…that thing punches so far above its weight, it’s criminal.
Plinius Amps? I guess they are one of the good fits to the B&W!
Yes, the kiwis provide the power the b&w diamonds need: 400W into 8 ohms, and 730W into 4 ohms.
I’m a year into owning Focal speakers and I absolutely love them. I transitioned to Focal from Vandersteen which were amazing but I had to have them so far from the wall that it became an issue.
Focal, in my experience, are SO flexible in a room.
Have a look at page 6 of the owners manual. It goes into some detail how you should position the speakers.
Components - PSA: P20, BHK Preamp, BHK 250, DS DAC, DS DMP; AQVOX SE switch w/ Sbooster LPS; Roon Nucleus+ w/ Sbooster LPS; Giga FOIL filter w/ Sbooster LPS
Interconnects & Power Cords - Nordost: Valhalla 2 HDMI & XLR (DAC & PRE) , Tyr 2 speaker cables; (9) PSA AC12/10/05 power cables for all components; (1) Shuyatta Research Anaconda CX for wall to PSA P20 power plant
Speakers - Sonus Faber Guareni Evolution speakers; REL S3/SHO subs; Focal Utopia headphones
Mechanical - VTI (5) shelf glass rack w/ Isoacoustic pucks for all components. Baby Martin.
Ah yes! I remember reading this when I first got the speakers and hooked up my system in 2017. They are definitely toed in like they recommend but couldn’t place them far from the wall so I just did the best I could. However coincidentally, upon checking Steve Guttenbergs Audiophiliac daily posts today he posted a video talking about this exact subject!
Now I really want to at least test it out!
I used to live in Lake Forest but retired to St. George, UT 3 years ago.
One odd thing about me being an audiophile, a cheapskate audiophile, but an audiophile. I was born without a right ear so the only way I can hear anything like stereo is by listening through headphones and pressing the earcup on the right firmly against my head to hear through bone conduction. However, I am very sensitive to distortion and even with one ear can hear if something sounds right or not.
Depending on how old you are, have you ever heard of a store in Orange called Adray’s, on Chapman near Main St? They closed in '98. I worked there off and on for 15 years.
Love the twin subs. Perfect.
I’ll get a couple pics of mine up…gotta tidy up first. LOL
Wow. Haven’t seen a pair of Ohms in a long time.
