It’s a non-rectilinear lens of 8mm, aka wide angle

Floor plan - I find drawing, even just a few doodles really opens up my mind to more creative problem solving and different perspectives. Try it when you’re stuck or just before you start a work day

I understand that. I start the day with my guitar and when I’m away with none available, it feels strange.

Beautiful space, kudos for keeping everything so tidy.

What are your thoughts on the Hana SL cartridge? I’ve been eyeing it for a while as a possible upgrade for my TT.

Yes, but this is trivial. The room is highly treated and quite dead, as well as even in frequency response. The difference is how a grand piano produces sound v. speakers.

Beautiful space and wonderful view. I’d keep the blinds up to be able to see that view. I see that you settled on the tweeters in concept. As long as the tweeters are farther from your listening spot(time alignment) than the bass/midrange driver that will work great.
thanks for sharing.

I have limited expertise in cartridges but I really like the set up with the Hana and the Rega Planar 8. My previous table had a sumiko blue point special. I read a bunch of postivie reviews on the Hana but honestly I relied on the guys at “The Needle Doctor” here in the Minneapolis area as to what they would recommend. They are big fans of the Hana. I feel fortunate to have them as a resources of knowledge right in my hometown.

You are correct. I wanted to have the speakers seperated as far out physically from each other while not blocking the view and keep the soundstage real. I have the speakers toed in so that the tweeter is further back from the bass portion of the panel. I found that a $25 laser based ruler is very handy to confirm the distance from the sweet spot and to confirm that the tweeters are farther from the bass panels. Highly recommend getting a laser based ruler.

Hi @michael-denmark,
its a van Dam Organ. A company based in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, in 1877. It was originally built in a different church, different town, in 1976 it was acquired by our Church and installed and improved by Organ Builder Pels from Alkmaar. According to Wikipedia from where I just gathered all this wisdom, van Dam company built in 4 generations 250 organs. My father in law plays organ too, he used to be lead organ player in the Church where I met my wife, so in a way these magnificent instruments play an important role in my life.

Funny enough it is because of this forum and Paul’s videos, how I started analyzing the sound and really appreciating it. I guess that’s what Paul calls learning to listen.

It’s now become a habit, listening and analyzing noises and appreciating them.

Dank je wel Rudolf!

Not only optically but also sonically

The P10 is a crucial element in my system! Everything changed for the better! Dynamics, noisefloor, bass extension, imaging, timbre… everything! The suburban area where I live has voltageswings between 226V and 248V. I also suffer from quite a lot of THD, about 3%. The P10 transformed my system and makes it sound amazing at every moment of the day.

Groet, Remko

Thanks for the kind words Cardri!

I love the Iconoclast thread/story however it’s not possible in the Netherlands to get a loan pair or a 30-day return possibility.

Our livingroom is acoustically very challenging with the assymetry, all the windows, a large vide and a large open floorplan to the kitchen. For serious listening I rotate the Eames chair away from the sitting area and listen nearfield in an equidistant triangle with the Guarneri’s pointed directly at me to avoid reflections. The echo from the vide is greatly reduced with architectural sound panels from Offecct, a Swedish company. Imaging was always great but adding the room neutralizers from bybee made the soundstage holographic and the baby grand’s reflections vanish.

@remkohuijgen - thanks for sharing… you will be hearing a lot about Iconoclast cabling in the future… you might want to ask Bob @BobBJC how they are going to work sales… in the future.

As far as the set up - brilliant, love the piano too…

Dank je wel Remko.

Yes that’s what many say certainly about those top range Italian made models, they sound like they look or vice versa, its that good.

I am taking my second step up in this hobby and was wondering about effect of the PS Audio Power Plants over here. So thank you for sharing your experiences.

Hi Matthew,

To be honest, I’m a rather mediocre pianoplayer with not enough time to practice. But I really, really care about the sound. Especially in digital audio I think the piano is the toughest instrument to get right. The DSD gives me a open, round and organic sound while retaining attack, sustain and body. It was a pianopiece that made me buy the DSD.

Following really great real world systems, I decided to share my systems on this thread.
First my office rig consisting of horn speakers from Klipsch and dual 12 inch vented Klipsch subwoofers and Onkyo receiver in bi-amp mode to the bookshelves:

Second living room friendly system, custom made speakers with Accuton tweeters/midbass drivers and 11 inch(hidden) DynAudio bass driver. Enclosure finished in Bubinga wood veneer. Hegel H190 Integrated DAC/Amp :

My theater room with 120 inch acoustic transparent screen(I want to mount the speakers behind the screen eventually)Klipsch THX Ultra 650 (LCR), a pair Seaton Submersive Subwoofers, Klipsch THX Ultra surrounds(not shown) with Denon 7200 receiver(Atmos, Auro3d), Xbox One S source and some legacy sources in my custom designed rack:

Lastly, my 2 channel setup which is also not complete, but getting there. I’d like to do more acoustic work and also get some subwoofers:

Cheers

Thanks Steven,

Sonus Faber (slightly) tilted the Guarneri’s for time alignment. In contrast to most other speakers the midwoofer is at ear level and not the tweeter.

The DS+ is great value for money. I love the ‘on the fly’ adjustment and its robust sound. The phonostage is my ‘budget’component to be honest and is better suited for mm than for mc cartridges. I wish to upgrade on the analog side of things but it requires (another) serious investment (cartridge, tonearm, platter, powersupply and phonostage).
