The Cable Company corporate culture

Don’t want to make this a squabble, but Mr. Maher does not strike me as qualifying as a comedian any longer, at least in the “traditional” sense of the word – despite his early career in stand up comedy. Point taken, nonetheless.

Now that I think about it, I would withdraw my charge of hypocrisy if he was still doing stand up (whether he was good at it, i.e., funny, or not). Am I being ironic?

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Cheers.

Many “comedians”, especially those you mentioned seem to be striving for clapter rather than laughter.
Johnny Carson and Jay Leno were excoriated for keeping out of politics. God bless them…

You may have a point. I bet he thinks he is still a comedian though.

I like The Cable Co. but gee I miss Robert - 10 + Years he was my one and only.

Post Robert did a couple of purchases thru Jason just wasn’t the same the spark was gone so have moved away for my bigger purchases although have used recently for my sons system, Agree always professional and customer centric - but Robert actually cared about out other things out the sale and that’s actually important

There are hardly any old school comedians left, that is true - George Carlin may have been the last of standing until his passing in 2008. Carlin wasn’t classy like Johnny (I won’t put Jay in that category) by any means, but he gave a voice to the absurdity of parts of our culture.

Since news has lost the plot, I respect many of today’s comedians for saying out loud what others don’t. Of course, free speech does offend those whose dark secrets and dirty actions are brought to light. But since we can’t talk to our neighbors or family about politics, we need somebody willing to say things out loud.

I’ve had only bad experiences with the Cable Company and its phone reps. I’ll never buy anything there.

If I need a cable, I order it from Morrow Audio. I’ve had only good experiences there.

Like Al, I’ve known Jason at the CC for a very long time. I bought my first “high end” power cables when Jason convinced me to try the Audience Forte F3 PowerChords for the exorbitant price of $125. (Who would have believed that PCs could actually influence the sound of an audio system?)

I did try buying a few cables from TMR before they reduced their discount on new cables, but I’m now back to checking out the CC for new cable purchases. I particularly like to take advantage of their lending library. My most recent cable upgrade involved looking for power cables for my preamp, DAC, and streamer. In the process, I had Jason send me a Snake River Takshaka PC to compare to a Shunyata Alpha-X NR. In my system (and with my ears), the Alpha-X sounded better in every way. These cables were from the lending library, so both should have been well broken in, but the Takshaka sounded less open, natural, and dynamic than the Alpha-X. Unfortunately, either of these cables cost several thousand dollars more than my old Audience F3 did. Fortunately, though, the Alpha-X cables sound great in my system.

I’ve used their lending library a couple times. It’s an excellent service.

That is interesting SRA Takshaka did not work well in your system. I may try a Shunyata Sigma X to compare. Takshaka does well in my system paring with MU2, that was comparing to another PC more than double of its cost too. Oh well, it does not work in every system it seems.

Donald, I was also expecting the Takshaka to do better in my system than it did, which is why I feel it’s so important for me to “try before I buy.”

I would definitely encourage you to try the Shunyata Sigma-X PC, which should perform even better than the Alpha-X does. This is a strange and expensive hobby that always surprises me in interesting ways.

I’d been dealing with The Cable Company since the early/mid 1980s. I liked it better back then, before Jason came along. When I interacted with him when he was on the sales team I didn’t get the same vibe, so I gradually turned to them less and less. A bit of a shame since they were only an hour away from me when I lived in NJ, but they really didn’t have a showroom of any sort.

It has been years and years since I dealt with them. I seem to remember dealing with a salesperson named John but I’m no longer sure. Bought some Hi-Fi Tuning fuses, a good number of them actually, and some cables. They were in New Hope, PA at the time, maye they’re still there.

I had enough transactions that I qualified as a frequent flyer for discounts which was a help.

Still there.

My guy at the Cable Co. was Ethan. I really enjoyed dealing with him. It has been a few years since I have.

I deal with Steve. He’s an OK guy.

I think we all agree Jason got little off-putting and ramble-ly on his last email. While we’re venting about that kinda thing, I almost unsubscribed from the Vera-Fi list the other day for the same reason. Mark has had customer order fulfillment issues because of supply chain problems now exacerbated by US tariffs, and while I found his story interesting in the first email on the topic, now in the fifth or sixth (tenth?) email it seems like a tired and maudlin story to explain why the snubby elasticator power thingy you ordered and paid for is or isn’t coming to you soon.
