I’m being devil’s advocate here but no one would be waiting at the edge of their seats if Paul hadn’t mentioned it was coming almost two weeks ago saying “fingers crossed we can release next week”. Yes, it gets us excited but it also makes us impatient and feel that what we have currently “isn’t good enough”.
FOMO is a powerful motivator for audiophiles (and humans). We already have people complaining the updates don’t come quick enough - which is ridiculous because they should enjoy what they have and not worry about it. But as soon as we know “it’s coming” all hell breaks loose. It might be better for both consumers and psaudio if the updates weren’t announced until ready for release.
It’s fun to have this to look forward to. I can’t wait. I’ll install it moments after it drops! This is what makes the DSD the best value in the audiophile world!
Which updates, in your opinion, had the biggest impact on sound quality, and how does the “best improvement release” compare to this pending release?
I get it, not easy… but you guys know what I am asking. Paul, you note this release is a “miracle”… if so, it should be the update with the biggest impact… and worthy of a shrine, pilgrimages, and maybe a holy war or two down the road.
Back issue: I just watched a TV commercial for Tide detergent. This new stuff gets your whites whiter. They’ve been claiming that for 50 years… how much whiter than white can you get? If I go back 20 years, did white shirts look brown?
PS Audio’s generosity and innovation trumps this community’s impatience for the next best thing. And the company’s patience with all the impatience is practically saintly.
Well said… I, too, would have preferred it, and I even said to Paul, just forget the DMP interim codes and just release the finished/final version… Paul gets giddy and he passes this on - one’s excitement gets built up only to descend into a pile of festering DMP dung…….!
