Torreys Beta Testers who had functional issues -- Please Read

Very interesting… Yes - I asked the question about sound quality to set my expectations prior to the test… From a ‘dummy’s’ perspective…(that’s me)… I would think - oh these fixes seem innocuous enough… how could sound be altered? So, Dennis - if the fixes work… my guess is that you are back to it after the sound is tweaked once again?

No problems at all after around 16 hrs. play through the BII.

WE are still waiting until I have heard from everybody to verify all the issues have been fixed. I have fixed several issues in the PIC relating to issues reported in this beta. Whether we will do another beta or go on to audio quality in currently not known. There are some tweaks the Ted is currently investigating.

Dennis

maybe i’m the last…everything works like a charm now! This is through I2s

Thanks Dennis…

The only issue I had identified was the DSD switcheroo over USB… I will check that tonight…

I am in IT… so I get where you are coming from… Your users are clueless!! (me)… I know a lot about nothing!!

Jazznut listed an issue with the Like Minds 88Khz files… I have that … and will also run it pre and post changes to see if there are any issues or if it is with his specific setup… I do not have the bridge - so that may or may not help… we shall see…

Dennis Kerrisk said I clearly stated " This is not an Audio Quality Test for Torreys, that will come later, as we will still need to do our Audio selection for a final version. This is only to make sure that we have addressed all of the functional issues."

Several people did not read this.

Dennis

Actually I did read this. But apparently my attempt to jokingly poke some fun at this fact landed flat... < sigh >

Dennis, all the issues have been fixed.

Everything works perfect - I2S and Bridge II.

Thanks.

Ok. USB channel switch on dsd fixed. I validated the issue w like minds 88/24 reported by jazznut works fine on new and old software. I am a non bridge - straight USB from laptop guy. Earlier issue was reported w bridge user.

No issues for me with this one. I mainly wanted to fix the DSD “switcheroo” too.

An issue that repeated from Beta 1 to Beta 2: I once again got the line of white rectangles running across the display, like the image that is on the other beta thread.

FWIW, the last thing I did prior to noticing the display issue was to quickly press Pause and then Stop buttons on BubbleUPnP, which had been playing for a ten hours.

I’ve reverted from Beta2 to Beta1, for the sound.

The rectangle issue has been fixed and tested.

I got my ASUS router working as NAS for both BubbleUPnP and Roon. I’ve got a 256GB USB3 thumb-drive plugged into the router.

The ASUS DLNA server does not recognize .dsf files but works with BubbleUPnP otherwise, and using the ASUS router as a Samba server makes the thumb-drive available to Roon, no other NAS needed. So I’m simultaneously running both DLNA server and Samba server in the router, and can switch between programs cleanly from the Android tablet.

Performance seems to be just fine using a low-end Win10 PC as Roon core, so now I’m Really jonesing for Torreys…

Installation & Bugs

Hello Dennis,

I had no problems with the installation when I installed Torreys (beta 0.105) last Tuesday evening. I left my system on since Thursday night. The only problem occurred yesterday and today. When I went to listen to a little music, nothing would play. I reset my bridge 1, nothing. Restarted JRiver, Nothing. Powered the DS from the back, restarted JRiver. All good!

Also noted, during power up from using the power switch on the back, the DS appears to be reloading the firmware, the DS blue logo front button starts blinking. Then, when the DS begins initializing there’s a “crackling” noise until the installation is complete. That seems abnormal.

Dave

Issues resolved for me
