TSS Two Chassis Super DAC

Will there be any way to use the current bridge II AND the new MKII DAC? Or will we have to use a separate streamer?

An integration of the Bridge with just and outboard power supply would save a lot of cost for the customer in case this would also bring the main benefits.

No way to integrate them. We don’t plan for there to be a slot to slide any expansion ports into.

Amazon music streaming would be a huge plus for the bridge III. Rather than us Amazon subscribers using node2i or some awful Amazon streamer.

@chris_y
OPTO-DX from www.audiowise.ca builds a Chord DX to optical bridge which does as you would expect: eliminates the galvanic connection and helps tremendously with RF noise getting from source to DAC.

@ jamesh : Considering there are one digital box and one analog one, wouldn’t have it be possible to add to the analog one the functionnalities of the defunct ps audio analog phono converter ?

Perhaps counter-intuitively, the only place that functionality would work in the TSS is in the “digital” box. The NPC was an analog-to-digital converter. The “analog” box of the TSS is an extremely specialised digital-to-analog converter for which the only possible source is the TSS digital box.

So NPC converts analog to standard digital. The TSS digital box converts standard digital formats into the specific format it needs and transmits it on the custom optical interconnect to the TSS analog box. There the interleaved DSD bitstream is split into its two channels, transformed from 1’s and 0’s into positive and negative voltage pulses and then sent via an analog low-pass filter to the audio output connectors.

Systems that include both analog and digital sources almost always use a pre-amp that treats the DAC as just another analog input. The other option – running the DAC direct to power amp and converting analog sources to digital earlier in the chain – is feasible but rarely chosen.

Thanx for your great explanation. I thougt 0 was no voltage pulse :zipper_mouth_face:

So it’s a no way, just another 15K+ DAC.

The PST can’t rip CDs so no Music Database function. The DVD support has been removed.

The low end novatron / cocktail audio X45PRO does almost everything one could need (with the exception of SACD)

I wish I could find a product with similar features but of higher quality without beint TOTL (I can’t afford $22,750, price in France for an Aurender A30)

I love this statement to pieces!

I too wish for an upgrade to the Nuwave Phono Converter.

That’s crazy : you look pretty much Earl Hines.

At $6000, or whatever the current price is, I would not call the Cocktail Audio x45Pro low end. It’s an amazing, thrilling sounding unit built like a tank. Can you get better sound?? Maybe, but I bet you need to either spend a ton more, or get a FPGA model with someone as talented as Ted Smith programming it.

PSA needs to bring out an improved Nuwave that is maybe in the $3000, with up to DSD64. Well, I need them to bring it out.

$6000 is a low price considering all what it does

  • preamp
  • CD ripper with 8 To HDD included
  • Music library : professional CD metadata and album cover art provided by Gracenote
  • DAC supports MQA, DSD(64/128/256/512), DXD(24Bit/352.8Khz), PCM singal up to 32Bit/768Khz including 24Bit/192Khz WAV/FLAC and full range hi-res audio file formats
  • Phono stage
  • DAB+
  • Major Music Streaming Services(TIDAL, TIDAL MQA, Deezer, Qobuz, Napster) and Internet Radio(Airable) available
  • Roon ready
    NOVATRON
If with all these features the sound was great, it would sale much more than the Marantz SA-10 which is a little more expensive.

Now they don’t communicate a lot about “what is inside”

A “high-performance Quad Core ARM Cortex A9 processor running at 1.0Ghz”. No kidding : “high-performance” ? Outdated, price ? We don’t know the exact model. Let’s say $50 if I buy just one

SABRE PRO Flagship ES9038PRO DAC : there again, outdated. Price : $75 if I buy one.

OPA627BP : price $13 if I buy one.

Untill now, the most expensive is the HDD (with a low quality tray) !!!

No TEAC Slot-Load CD-ROM

No dual mono DAC
cache memory : 8 Go (less than in a low end smarphone, Aurender ACS10 : minimum 240Go SSD)

Upsampled PCM ? I might be wrong but haven’t seen any

If it is not a low end, please let me know which are systems which have all it’s features and a lower price. I’d be happy to find one between the Cocktail Audio X45Pro and the Aurender A30. Something with all thos features around $12K. If you know other products than those two, please let me know, it would greatly help me (if they cost less than the Aurender A30).

It is very hard to build a great equipment with cheap components. And you’re right, a FPGA model would be great IF there is somone as talented as Ted Smith. Otherwise FPGA is no very useful

P.-S. Dont forget that I live in France : the PAD without the bridge costs $8150 and no trade in… ouch

The NPC in it’s current configuration supports DSD 64.

I’ve had mine for 2-3 years, but mine came w/o a HDD. They include one now??? I demand a refund!! BTW, it’s a steal!

Well, I think the configuration of those products may vary. But without HDD, how culd you use the ripper ? Cheers

The NPC is discontinued. The problem is not DSD64 support but a very deceptive phono amp (POC). M2Tec is selling a much more complicated product (you need to use a computer, you can’t use it at a standalone phono amp, I have to check as I don’t remember everything). It supports PCM x16 and DSD up to 265x. It has 7 equalisation curves for 78rpms and 16 for non RIAA LPs. It is a beast and it not expensive.

Long feature list ≠ great sound quality

There’s always a trade-off.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Ripping vinyl using the S/PDIF Digital Output of the Nuwave Phono Converter?

It’s pretty clear you’re in the wrong thread. This is nearly a thousand posts about a DAC. Your question about incorporating some NPC features into the DAC product made a degree of sense in here but complaints about the NPC’s quality or performance belong elsewhere.
