Hi people. I noticed that my P10 had dropped off the network so I replaced the ethernet cable and checked the connections. No change. Attempted to do a factory reset and ended up with the screen permanently upside down and still no ethernet
At this sec I don’t have an appropriate SD card to do a firmware upgrade - am not certain whether I am on the latest or not. But the card will arrive tomorrow so I can try that then.
In the meantime, in case it doesn’t work, can anyone post detailed instructions on how to fix the screen? I did unplug the unit and wait 10 minutes before restarting with no change to either issue.
Unit is otherwise working correctly, but with the screen upside down I can’t control it, nor of course can I access it via the LAN. In the meantime my wife will not let me listen while standing on my head. TIA for any help!
Bob, Your post about the inverted screen on a powerplant seemed similar to another post from a few years ago. I can’t find any reference to that problem on the forum so maybe I am not recalling correctly. What I did find was that there are other screen anomalies reported on the P10 and some of them were callibration/diagnositc routines that were able to be reset after contacting PS Audio support for the procedure. Hopefully, your issue is easily resolved the same way.
Thanks. yeah the first thing I said to my wife after %^$#@!!! was - “this has happened to others, it’s a known thing and there’s a procedure to fix it”, but I can’t find it either. Anyway it’s annoying but not a disaster, I can at least listen to my system normally in the meantime!
This was Paul’s response on how to fix an inverted screen on the DS DAC. I have no idea if it’ll work for you on the P10. The mechanics / equipment topology may be totally different.
Anyway, this is it:
“This happens occasionally and we do not know why. Easy to fix though. Turn the power off in the rear of DS. Hold the front panel button down then turn power back on still holding the front panel button. The calibration screen comes up. Touch each of the numbers in numeric sequence (1,2,3,4) and it should fix the problem. If not, repeat.”
Might I suggest you close your eyes and listen to the music? Or you could hang your P10 upside down from a bunch of those cute little birds, freeing up some room on your rack (or floor or wherever you park your P10). I guess there really are two classes of audiophiles: those that have gear in order to enjoy music and those who have music to enjoy gear. Both pursuits are fun hobbies.
I suspect the screen has an up and down side. Some units may have inadvertently been assembled with the screen inverted and calibrated to work correctly. Best solution may be to flip the screen.
UPDATE: Fixed with the calibration procedure of booting up unit while pressing front button until the 4 buttons appear on the touch screen that you press in the marked order. I want to mention that this is not merely a cosmetic issue because when the screen is upside down, pressing on it works according to the “correct” locations of the buttons, and thus you may inadvertently change voltages and network settings, go into or out of multiwave, turn zones on or off mistakenly, etc etc etc. So be aware of this if it happens to you. That said, once I figured out the procedure to fix it, it was not at all difficult.
The upside-down display after a reset sounds like a rotation setting or firmware issue rather than a hardware failure. The firmware update may fix both problems if the reset changed system settings. If not, check the device display/orientation settings or try accessing the service menu if there’s a button combination for it. Hope the SD card update sorts it out.
