i’m making myself clear…what i’m realizing is that most audio stores have very limited inventory, and not much to lend out.
he disconnected these from a Focal Sopra 3 using an Esoteric 30 watt tube amplifier

Oh, I get it. The OP is going to follow the dealers’ suggestions no matter what and then complain about it here. He asks for advice that he is going to flat out ignore.
I wish I could ignore you for Trolling.
there is an ignore feature, someone here may remember how to use it.
Hey Onehorse,
In my system, the silver over copper provide a much more realistic soundstage
than copper alone.
The Nordost red dawn silver over 4n copper way more revealing than copper.
Albeit at times thin sounding depending on the recording the engineers decided to give us.
Now enter my new McIntosh C49 preamp with tone controls. Yes tone controls!!
to offset the lack of engineering proprieties…this preamp offers all body and low
end punch my Wyred4Sound STP SE stage 2 could not.
Now enter the DH Labs Deity pure silver strands plus silver over continuous copper…What an amazing mix combination of deep bass slam, mids and extended upper mids and highs with very very delicate nuances…
With the Deity my C49’s tone controls can more incrementally fine adjustments
to sound quality…Just what the doctors ordered.
Also today am receiving a pair of Nordost frey 2 speaker cables to audition vis a vis the DH Labs fabulous Deity cables.
So Onehorse…let us know what your auditioning of the wire world is sounding like to you…I hope these are the ticket for you!!
Now just my own .02 … No…silver is not brighter depending on the designer. If any system will show up silver cables as thin and bright mine will with no 2 ways about it. This is with my ears as they hear it. MMV per person.
Best wishes,
DavidA
Thank you, that is wonderful…already implemented
I don’t use Cardas or AudioQuest, but asking me what I prefer isn’t gonna help you. Your system and ears are different than mine.
i know, but if a few on here like brand x, i’ll try to audition brand x and see for myself
I really like the Synergistic Research Foundations, speaker cables. I use their jumpers as well, and it sounded better than the bi-wired speaker cables I was using before.
Synergistic Research doesn’t really believe in bywiring. They go into depth on their website why they feel their jumpers are better.
Had same issue with BHK250 and found it was not uncommon.
Connected the Wire World silver eclipse speaker cables.
I don’t know what it is in my system, as i read that cables make a subtle difference. Not in my case, speaker cables make a huge difference.
Initial impression, is that this cable is much more full bodied sounding than the Nordost cables.
I’ll keep these in my system for a week before returning them.
I still feel the upper end is way too bright, I found another dealer that will lend me a pair of audioquest Lone Ranger cables. I’m looking forward to see if pure copper cable will tone down the top end
Glad you got to try the WireWorld Eclipse 10…sometimes the bright effect you described means the cables need more play burn in time…this has happened
with Nordost ( which after trying the DH Labs Deity) they do sound thin lacking body.
The DH Labs Deity and Q10 cables while using the same tech…never sounded bright at all, yet they are very fast light on their toes beautifully revealing.
The Q10s are $550.00 for six foot pair with silver connectors of your choice.
If $$$ allow the consider the Deity cable:
Frey2s are now burning in though they should have neen at the cable company…
Will share the details in the coming days.
Best wishes
David A
Onehorse,
You are so right cables do make a huge differences…nay sayers gotta be tone deaf!!
Best wishes

The cables I’m borrowing from the dealers now are all cables they swapped out of their floor demo’s. They’ve all been broken in.
I think it depends on the speakers. My son has the Focal Aria 936s and when they were over my house, nothing made a difference, cables, amps, pcm settings, everything sounded good for that price point
Interesting that nothing made a difference…
Best wishes
David
i think it’s just because the Aria line is not a highly resolving speaker. That’s not to say they are pleasant to listen to
Actually I was surprised that your son’s Aria 936 was not resolving the cable differences. This is not characteristic of the Aria line.
Did your son take his 936s to your house or was the trial at is house?
Woud be interesting to know…
My 948s are quite the show off pair…
Best Wishes

over to my house. nice sounding speaker. doesn’t do anything bad
