Yeah. Apparently Kaleidescape have some wonderous gizmo that stress tests all the HDD they buy from whomever OEM. Only those HDD that pass their tests get sold to customers. Half a million operating hours for only one failure is impressive, and I think testament to their quality control processes.

As a multiple of PS Audio DSD DAC + DMP : Plenty.
Esoteric: Sounds better. Works better. Worth the price of admission.
PS Audio: Sounds OK. Doesnât work properly. Not worth a penny for that reason.
I think my very low failure rate of Kaleidescape HDDâs is better than the world-wide average failure rate, which is still pretty bloody good.
Well at that price, it certainly should. And, I hope you are very happy with your toys, but I really think you might let up a bit on the heavy criticism. It just looks to be in poor taste.

All Esoteric digital components support using an external master clock or word clock, for improved sound quality.
As Iâve mentioned before, which hasnât changed since I last mentioned it, part of my system is powered by a PS Audio Power Plant P3, and all of it is connected with PS Audio power cables.
So Iâm here for that reason. And also to add to the volume of voices so that, maybe one day those voices will be heard, and something done to address the problems. We have been waiting for a very long time with the same old, same old.
Maybe the tide is changing. Was it a coincidence that the PS Audio UK distributor was dispatched to Scotland to sort out a dealer network there? And @Dirk complaining about it here had nothing to do with it? Did the UK distributor dispatch himself, or was he dispatched by a higher authority? My money is on the theory that @Dirk was finally heard.

I liked seeing the PS museum in that video, they have built a lot of products over the years. I saw the P1200 in Hong Kong, it was a great room heater in a hot and humid Hong Kong summer. I think Radar sold a lot of them.
Paul said his âleast proud ofâ product was the Power Director. He said an âinternet enabled passive power conditionerâ was PS Audioâs idea, but they didnât sell many (to the HT Installer crowd), and eventually Panamax âstoleâ the idea and they sold a ton of them.
Thatâs a long way short of being â99% Trueâ.
The Power Director was supposed to be internet enabled, but it never was. It was marketed as being network enabled via something they called the âPS Bussâ. The PS Buss was an interface card that slotted into the back of the Power Director. It was even mentioned in the Power Director owners manual.
So it was marketed and sold as being able to do this, but it never did. They abandoned the PS Buss project and it was never sold to a customer.
I know this because I bought a Power Director on the promise of things it would do with PS Buss. After a year of waiting I asked them âwhere is the PS Buss card, when can we expect it?â only to find out they had quietly dropped the project and never delivered on the promise.
Sound familiar, promising something but not delivering?
And do you want to know something that is 100% True?

And in anticipation of being asked, for me their worst product was the Power Pack 1500 Mk2. It was a stupid PS Audio design, built in China.
It seems like a vendetta at this point. I design electrical systems for commercial buildings for a living. Iâve earned a nice living (not even close to @Brodric money, but I donât harbor jealously over otherâs success) and a pretty good reputation (for as much as thatâs worthâŠsomething but not that much). Iâve had anywhere from 3 to 7 engineers under my direct supervision over the years. Not that big a deal but my total responsibilities add up to a pretty big freaking number every year (donât track it but -Edit- $30M??). The nature of my work often involves convincing owners I have the solutions to their building needs. There is some hucksterism involved. Itâs the nature of work in my experience. In general, my success far exceed my failures. But failures Iâve had (recently, wireless lighting control). I would hate to have my failures repetitively chronicled on a platform of my own creation. Donât think Iâd be very kind about it. Creating something out of nothing, it turns out, is really hard.
Giving an honest opinion in response to something that was asked of me is not a vendetta. And let me also mention. Paul said the Power Director was their âleast proud ofâ product. It happens to be my favorite PS product of all time. It only broke down once in the 10+ years that it served me; it was the most reliable PS Audio product ever (for me at least). Apart from the PS Buss feature that was promised but not delivered, the Power Director did everything else exactly as promised.
The Power Director also helped me discover that my PS Audio Humbuster 3, which was between it and the wall socket, WAS WIRED BACKWARDS. Bob Stadtherr got to the bottom of that one (he was repairing my busted PS Audio Power Plant 5 at the time).
No, âvendettaâ is the right word. You absolutely have it out for Paul and PS Audio, Your posts are so biased its not even funny. You would be here posting all this negative crap all the time if it were not some kind of vendetta.
Itâs not negative crap. Itâs the honest truth. And you see the good also gets mentioned in there as well.
If there is anything factually untrue in my posts, tell me and Iâll correct them. Or Paul might jump in and say âYeah, heâs right. I said the Power Director was internet enabled, we sold it to customers on the promise of it being internet enabled, but it never wasâ.
