Verity Audio Otello Loudspeakers

The reviewer from Positive Feedback says the Otello has the best midrange he ever auditioned from any speaker. He also bought the review sample.

Read that as well, thanks for sharing. At this time it is mainly a need to satisfy a curiosity.

Yeah, yeah, yeah… We know all that, but again, the OP never mentioned any bass issues, so your original post was moot to begin with.

And of course, you have the OP’s response to your post confirming that he has no SBIR issues.

And you have absolutely nothing to add to my comment.

As I said, I have no clue about his room and what response he is getting. I was just looking for insight before I started wrestling my subs around.

Lol. :joy:. You state how much the SR Black Box helps articulate the Othello bass. So are the scores with SR black magic or not?

That is absolutely correct, because I wasn’t assuming anything about his system like you were.

Anywho…

Oh, got it! Sorry.

All my notes were taken before the BB arrived here. Yesterday I just reordered and put them in my “maccheronic” English, to be shared with you, forum friends.

Believe me or not, the BB seems to affect more the presentation (spatiality, focus, depth of the image) than the bass (where articulation and deep deep lows are the most relevant improvements achieved, though).

Alea jacta est (this is for you, Vince): I’ve also started playing with the SR Funny Buttons, that sound really really nice, almost as much as the BB.

Al has struck again! Our mentor speaks little, but when he does, he does it with good reason! And sometimes he also gives us fantastic pearls. By the way, I’m waiting for his first pearl of 2024!

But seriously, I have seen the light at last!

Every once in a whole, devote six months to leaving everything as is. A moratorium a on tweaks and major changes. Ease into your chair with your favorite things nearby and just listen.

Thanks, savvy advice!

That should be my New Year’s resolution!

… …

Can’t promise anything!

Big surprise as I was hunting for an opportunity to audition the Verity Audio Otello speakers in the Chicago area. Per their USA distributor Paul Manos of Hifi Services, Audio Verity has closed its doors. No explanation forthcoming. I assume a tough market for this Canadian speaker line. From Paul’s email I get the notion there will be no future product support either. A shame.

Based on @luca.pelliccioli presentation, mighty saddening

Surprised me as well as their USA distributor, High Fidelity Services. Verity Audio announced last week, and apparently dealers are just now learning of the closure. Luca effectively drummed up interest in the brand. From what I learned today it seems there may be a handful of Otellos in the wild, Minneapolis, and Boston.

I had a dealer here in the bay area down in San Jose that sold Verity Audio speakers. He has since moved south and I’m not sure if he’s retired. I do remember auditioning at the time the Verity Safsifal which I believe is an earlier version of the Otellos. What I heard was a pair of speakers that just disapeared into the soundfield and has great resolution. These are nice speakers. Dealers are now few and far between, and very limited to more brand names like Wilson’s and Focal’s and such.

Thanks for sharing this information. Just asked to the Italian importer an official confirmation.

Was the dealer Jeff Whitlock at AV Solutions? He and the the US distributor are long time friends. He also had his own cable line, Unity Audio Design at some point. Don’t know if Jeff is still in the retail audio business or not.

No, the dealer is Brian Hardsell. He sells new and old vinyl records as well. He allow us to go listen to the records first and decide which ones we wish to purchase. And we can use the room with his best equipments to audition the records. He does sell some digital equipment but no CD’s. The last time I was there, he had the Continuum Caliburn turntable with a Koetsu Blue Lace cartridge into the top Wavestream electronics and Sonos Faber Stradivari speakers which were quite nice. He sells a lot of odds and end brands like Nagra, Avantgarde Acoustic, SME, Clearaudio, Basis, Ayres, Harbeth, and so on. It was fun listening to all the new records that were coming out at the time on first rate equipments. Unfortunately he has closed the shop.

I saw the same ad and was going to post it.
These look way too interesting to me and the price is also really good.

I need to block that ad. Look the other way. Don’t be obsessed over it.

Breathe deeply and exhale slowly.

Dammit it’s not working.
