Verity Audio Otello Loudspeakers

Just had a telephone conversation with the Italian importer who called the Verity’s owner.
He confirmed the closing, he’s going to stop the production of new speakers, the business is decreased and he’s very sad about this decision, after decades of success and most of all after having built strong relationships all over the world with trusted distributors and passionate people. Sad story!
Anyhow he assured that they continue supporting the existing products for years to come, both for spare parts (they have large quantities in stock) and for distribution all over the world.
He wrote a letter to distributors and I will receive written assurances about that from my importer, too. The Italian importer also assured me by written that he will value my Otellos for the next 5 years at the price paid in case of resell.

Sad news but also a sign of the times. As happy as you are with the set you have maybe I should pick up a set here just out of curiosity.

thought you are downsizing

I don’t think you’ll regret it. With the price increases since I bought mine in 2019 that is probably pretty close to what he paid Paul for them.

Yeah I’m trying / supposed to be.
I already have a few pair of “really good” speakers that I can’t seem to sell anywhere and looking at more.
It’s an addiction I guess. And it’s also the product of a high credit limit and curiosity. :exploding_head:

I have a trusted importer who assured me about support, I strongly recommend you to be assured too by some trusted distributor before.

I’m a lot better at jumping off the diving board before checking to see if there is water in the pool.

I am going to ponder it a bit before calling the dealer. They are new showroom floor models according to the ad. They do look like a very promising solution based on your review and comparison.

I confirmed my purchase today, after having got assurances about support and future value from the importer (I hadn’t yet paid them). I confirmed the purchase simply because I love how they sound.

You are not making this decision any easier my long distance friend.

Shouldn’t a (long distance) good friend always say the truth?

Yes and your candor and sincerity is highly valued here.

I like the white color better, barely. I like one pair of bending posts more; there is no need for bi-wiring. That alone could be a few thousand bucks of saving for some nuts here (Who? me?)

Now I will read the review to compare with FR30.

Why bypass an opportunity to buy cables. Al would be disappointed.

Bi-wired Stealth? No thanks😆

A phone call to Paul Manos should determine how many pairs are either sitting at dealers or in his store/warehouse in Boston. I assume he has at least one pair on his showroom floor plus there is the pair in California and in Minneapolis. May or may not be others.

It’s too late to cancel my Japan trip, then I can afford a couple pairs of these. Wait, I got tuition payments coming up for daughter MS program. I can’t cancel that. Never mind.

The bi-wire approach with Iconoclast SPTPC Series 2 on the top and S1 on the bottom of the FR 30’s yielded great results for me. Possibly short of Stealth performance (never tried them) but certainly more affordable. If you start with a great cable design, add silver wire and have a speaker that accepts bi-wire you have improvements at each increment, roughly a $2k bump. Just saying that a speaker that allows this is a plus and should be a consideration at the level you are looking at.

I’m interested in both FR30 and Iconoclast bi-wired cables, and hopefully I’ll have spared changes saved during the next speaker sales. Thanks for the recommendation!

My interest has waned considerably once I learned Verity Audio is no more. I saw that this morning as well. Thanks for the tip all the same.

Sad story, but life goes on…
