We also love cars

A used Miata is difficult to beat on a yuck/buck basis.

Nice looking! Congrats!

Isn’t the retractable hardtop a little bit anti-autocross weight wise?

If it’s coming from Central Florida, chances are I might know or at least know of the previous owner of that NC. I used to have two different Miata’s, a 2002 NB, then a decked out 1991 NA. I was part of (and still stay in contact) with the Tampa Bay Miata Club. They know these cars inside and out and they all pitch in and help others work on them, having ā€œtech daysā€ on various weekends.

That NC may very well have seen some track days, but you can be sure it was also well maintained.

Damn, now I’m wanting another Miata. LOL

Supposedly the retractable hard top adds 75 lbs over the soft top. Not too worried about it. (Plus, my R32 is 3500 lbs. THAT’S anti-autocross!)

He said he never tracked it, but he did some suspension mods that will be enjoyable for anyone wanting to. He did say he’s pretty anal about his cars.

I hear ya about wanting one.

My late wife and I rented an NB in California on a trip we took 20 years ago, and I’ll never forget it. Pacific Coast Highway, Big Sur, etc… I’ve wanted one ever since.

Yeah, that’s like me. With the 2002, all I did was wheels, tires, exhaust and strut tower braces front and rear. It never saw a track.

The 1991, I did wheels, tires, full exhaust (header and everything), full adjustable coilover suspension, front and rear sway bars, front and rear strut braces, chassis braces (X-brace), the works, removed the soft top completely, permanently installed the hard top, slotted rotors and upgraded pads, did a full NA8 interior swap from the original NA6 interior, and removed almost 220 lbs of weight from the entire car.

The '91 only saw the track about 3 times. Being a store manager in retail, I almost never had a chance to have a weekend off to go to track days. That sucked.

man i would love to find a print of this (Volvo 1800 i think)

Wow a V-Max …haven’t seen one in ages it seems…

How do they compare with todays bikes speedwise?

Modest, but it would hold its own in most street riding.

But keep in mind it is a 30+ year old bike.

Quite true 30+ years is old tech…but still could put on a worthy show…

It is not so finessed in the corners but in a straight line - Holdontoyourbuttcheeks fast. 145HP on a 600 lb bike. When the V-Boost kicks in at 6000 RPM, it’s like it drops down to a 2-stroke RD 350 on cocaine dipped steroids. The road starts to look kinda like the special effect when the Millennium Falcon goes onto Hyperspace jump… Its good to have something that scares you a lil bit from time to time. I wanted one when the first came out but knew I’d be dead in a week so I found this one when I hit 50. Mint & low KM. And I ride it - like I’m fifty-sumpthiun… with micro spurts of ā€œWHEEEEEE I’m 20 AGAIN!!!ā€ Followed immediately by an ā€œoh crep - SLOW DOWN!!!ā€

The new Vmax is 190hp… uh…No.
Mind you I DID have an RD350 in my 20s for about 3 weeks, and it scared me more than the VMax does - inSANE lil bike.
Had the foresight to get rid of that pronto.
