Classy!
1970 lavendar dial. It’s hard to pick up the lovely lavendar hue with an iphone.
Birthday present from my son! Also, white gold bezel and Italian hair on the wrist.
I gotta say, I am not ordinarily a fan of the Rolex look, but this one is super handsome looking!
What a beautiful piece, very sober. The white gold bezel, wonderful.
He’s truly an artist in his own way! You must be proud of the guy, Ron.
Very impressive! You need some steady hands for that kind of work. And I see all those tiny parts and think how many times I took something apart and lost much larger screws, springs, and such … no way I could do that now.
He wanted to teach me watchmaking but my hands are not up to the task, nor my eyes. It’s a craft that favors the young for sure.
Greg was mentored by a quite famous watchmaker who aged out in his early 60’s.
Absolutely fascinating video!
watching a craftsman is great
this is what I enjoy most with good audio…peering into to the skill and creativity of the musicians, hearing instrument/vocal subtleties they perfect and intend for playback, and their individual stage holography
Now I know why servicing my 40 y/o Rolex submariner will cost $600. I’ve done it twice, and now it sits in a drawer. Maybe next time will be a charm, but for now my Casio will have to do. I have to wonder whether the watch was really sent to NYC for repair, or just fixed incompletely by a local?
In general, you get what you pay for.
It’s taken me four attempts over twelve years to get IWC to get my Portuguese to keep reasonable time. I have to admit that because I gave them good information each time they gradually got it better and have finally homed in on something that’s reasonable when the watch is worn by me.
I’m contemplating selling some stock and buying my first “luxury” watch. I’m seriously considering a Tudor if I can find one; one of the smaller Black Bays so I can leave it to my son who has smallish wrists. The stock is just a number on a legder…a watch is something I’ve wanted for a long while.
Then again, maybe someone will talk me out of it into upgrading my speakers. :<). (Took the girls to Hanson where they had a pair of Nautilus. They were highly unimpressed).
If you buy the right watch, it won’t depreciate like most everything in our hifi.
For anyone’s first luxury watch, the foundation of any future collection should be a Rolex Submariner.
One can be found on the secondary market for “reasonable” money.
They are classically beautiful, rugged and can be worn daily.
Fantastic watch and it never goes out of style! It’s also the most counterfeited watch ever so be careful when buying from a private party! Consult an expert! No problem for Ron.
