What are you spinning now? (Mark 4)

Ya, I downloaded (legally) a few Albums from iTunes & RealAudio (remember them ?) years ago and they sounded like crap not just because the low bitrate’s, but extremely hot playback levels were atrocious. “Mastered for iTunes” my Arse. But we now have Streaming services which make up for it I suppose.

I have sooooo many iTunes AAC files on my computer (I don’t point to them from Roon). I’m ripping everything again as FLAC files (not too bad, maybe 500 CDs), but i did buy a bunch in the days of the $9.99 album. Instant gratification before on-demand streaming services, I guess.

Feels like tossing money down the drain. If most of the proceeds went to the artists, cool, but I doubt much of it did. :frowning:

Dolby B or S HX Pro Prerecorded Cassettes sounded better than iTunes IMHO.

This BluRay/CD/Vinyl has been posted here several time including me but tonight the DirectStream Sr. Came through again. When I used to play this BluRay in 2.0 96/24 using the Sony DAC’s, David Gilmour’s Acoustic Guitar during the intro to Wish You Were Here was incredibly hard on the ears. It was bad. Played through the DSD Sr. I2S input, the Guitar part is beautiful. The rest of the song has very deep, and tight Bass, natural mid’s not too bloated, and of course the Treble no longer harsh.

This is the best I’ve ever heard this BluRay.

Qobuz. CD. A switch from English to Italian. I find Veracini’s music to be very pleasant but slightly predictable, not that you want any surprises for early morning listening. This album was gently enjoyable, and would probably have benefited from being played at a higher volume than I dared to use. If you like Vivaldi you will probably like this.

A couple of them I have added to my HQ music library, but only in desparation until I can afford to splash on the CDs (but in some cases no CD available).
I guess I hsould stump up for an online subscription for streaming but I am so far resisting

Now I’m completely confused (two nations separated by a common language?)

Can’t say I have ever seen that album cover.

I’ve had the album for years. Not one of his best! How is the invalid?

She had a rough night, I had to change her clothing, trying to remove a shirt and dress her back put some stress on the fracture.
Who is the artist of the album?
