New on Qobuz. HR. The harpsichord is not an instrument which allows much expression, but I was astonished on this album by how nuanced it sounded. The tone of the violin was also almost painfully realistic. Top marks for performance and sound quality. Bach was no slouch as a composer so the music too is excellent, Marked as a favourite.
It’s been a while since I posted my last audiophile playlist. It’s not getting any easier to compile a one hundred track mixed tape that sounds halfway decent all the way. Anyway, here’s the 17th one… God bless…!

Bit of an outlier in Mr. Hillage’s catalogue - just him and the Mrs on vocals, guitar, basic keyboards and basic drum machine. No twinkly synths which is always a shame.
Came with a free additional album of more traditional guitar noodling, but still with basic keyboards and drum machine.
Released 1982 or 3 I think.
I still have the vinyl as well as the CD
So I braved side 3 and 4 (CD 2)
Pretty tedious, Phil lynnot was quite good, Julie Covington was in very good voice, and David Essex’s song (and voice) were dreadful.
I think it’s gonna be a while before I listen to it again.
Nostalgia only I’m afraid.
Loved Earfood but don’t know this one, pretty good though a couple tracks
David Essex “ Artilleryman “… He should have been used as munitions and fired out of a cannon! Like you said, Essex cannot sing, if you want to murder a song send for David Essex! How he achieved success as a singer, writer and actor is a complete mystery to me …. I’m starting to sound like Chris.
