Newish on Qobuz. HR. The red thread joining the pieces on this album is that the composers were all affected by the plague; mostly by dying from it, so I guess it should be a black thread. About half the album is Schmelzer, who is predictably excellent, and the remainder is very good except for the Toccata No.7 by Rossi, which I found rather dull. It is played by a Canadian trio of violin, viola da gamba/bass viol, and harpsichord/organ. They play very well and the sound is crisp and forward. It was a toss-up whether to mark this as a favourite, It won.
