You gotta love the hair.
You could be right! This was the last ZZ Top music I bought… MTV by this stage and it was more to do with videos!
At the time this was popular I was traveling in the UK. Video jukeboxes were in all the pubs and the song Legs was playing everywhere.
I remember when they had that hot rod built. Seems like 3 weeks ago sometimes…
You are spot-on. The album and chart singles sold well in the UK. The album commercially was a big success in the UK for ZZ Top, possibly their biggest selling album. Thanks mainly to MTV the 45 single Gimme All Your Lovin & LEGS were big sellers. It’s not that a bad album, but my preference lies with their earlier recordings!
this might be out of bounds, but the thing I remember most about Deguello is the first time I heard it, which was also the first time I had experience with using a bong. My best friend’s older brother was sorting seeds and stems on the album cover. “I Thank You” came on the stereo (at that time, giant DLK 3 speakers were all the rage; late 1970’s), and i was not surprisingly blown away.
Went out and bought the album the next day.
I think I shall throw it on the deck now.
That’s the scary thing how time just flies away. I pick up an album and to me it seems a fairly recent recording then I look at the year on the back of the jacket or CD case and 33 years have past. I can still remember walking into shop and buying it at its release! Stick 33 years on my age today and I am writing on a headstone…
Agreed. Were all just a bunch of burned out hippies at heart. And it is good to have made it this far although it seems like it should have taken a little longer to get here
We all have strong hearts, despite many burns. Bless us all!
