Great album, and I saw John Hammond live when he was touring to promote it. It is also an excellent candidate for the cover albums thread.
Inspired me to listen to this album.

This is one of great sounding jazz cd in my collection; Title track “The Emissary” is my favorite; First track the Bass Clarinet and Tenor Sax are so shockingly real and full of texture; highly recommend;
