Same here, I’ve seen him live a few times either solo or with his band. I am a fan of his music. Posted a selection of his recorded output, but there’s more I could post, then there’s the Richard and Linda catalogue, Fairport Convention, etc.!

Fashionably Late was a decent enough recording, Linda’s return to singing after losing her voice for a few years due to spasmodic dysphonia…
Regarding English Beat absolutely love them and this album in particular. Must be played on vinyl only for best effect.
I enjoy the works of Schmelzer, since they remind me of my great favourite Biber. This album from 1995 was pleasant, but I did not feel either the performance or SQ was exceptional. Still worth a listen if you are that way inclined.
Great album for easy listening.
@Sohail - yes, a departure from the usual. The mix man died (2015) 3 years after release (2012). I love his other work. This one is so special and different than his Nuevo Flamenco. His other work seems to repeat so when I heard this album, I loved it… however, everything he does is just so good and my speakers love it…
I paid attention to the ‘Spinning Right Now’ dictum and posted before I had finished listening to the album. Mistake. The final three tracks, particularly ‘Die Fechtscule’, are rather good and well worth listening to.
RICHARD THOMPSON WITH THE KNOXVILLE SYMPHONY STRINGS: presented
“KILLED IN ACTION,” a song cycle reflecting on the horrors of the monumental conflict of World War I.
“Songs are based on letters, diaries, and interviews, and in most cases, are verbatim extracts, with little attempt to make them rhyme or turn them into ‘art,’” Thompson said of the pieces.
I attended the presentation of this work at the Big Ears Festival, Sunday March 24 session at the Bijou Theatre.
Another one I have never heard before
I’ve posted this here before, my introduction to Mingus. Forever grateful to Ms Mitchell! I was a young Airman living in Northern California when I heard this. We all had quality 70s era Japanese stereos we bought in Okinawa. Lots of good music played in the barracks. This one played by me.
Cheers. Interesting insight !
