Skip White Riot. I like it but fully understand that others would not.
It mellows as Joe did. Ignore the first 1/2 dozen or so tracks. It’s punk or redos. Go to Elvis’ Crawfish. Try Joe’s Johnny Appleseed.

The tradest of all jazz of all with a modern sound. Going to NOLA in 10 Days.
Johnny Appleseed is an awesome song. Beautiful cross between Irish/English and what came out of that influence here in America.

24/96 FLAC
Johnny Appleseed is definitely in my top 10 songs. I think you will love a number of the songs. It’s eclectic but solid across the board.

Big Bang of Country Music: 1927.
amsco15 saidWhat a week! Daughter’s wedding was crazy. Serious group of eclectic people. This is emblematic of the crowd…I enjoyed some Colorado tea with a brain surgeon. I’m just a man from Cicero.
Lonson, you convinced me to buy this…not that I needed a big push. Disc 3. Redcloud makes this CD so much smoother. Any hint of harshness, due to the music’s age, is gone. Just lovely!

Free Base!
Grandmaster Flash. Now that’s a effing throwback!!!

Can’t stop playing this. I’ll put it way for the year soon…maybe. Just picked up the big 20 CD box set from Bear family, “Louisiana Hayride.” Can’t wait to start digging into that historic set.
Jason, FWIW, I have, in addition to an old Vinyl copy, a rip of the black triangle version of Never Mind the Bollocks.

The only music I’ve ever acquired illegally. If there was a way to buy the CD for less than $100 plus, if you can even find it, I would have bought it. Given the chance, I’d grab a copy of the black triangle of Abbey Road too. There’s a sealed black triangle Abbey Road on eBay with an asking price of over $1,000. Nuts!
Edit: found a used black triangle Never Mind the Bollocks for $200.00. Just not worth it. I have a solid bid in for a Mosaic 18 CD Nat King Cole set for just over $300.00. Still a lot of money but no comparison.

Tis the season. Thanks for this one Jason.
The box set was still out so I popped in another one, enjoying this via the Taboo Mk IV and the Audeze LCD-2.
Keith Jarrett “At the Blue Note the Complete Recordings” disc 2

This was given to me at my daughter’s wedding by the best man. He’s a music nerd too. I’m always looking for a different perspective. I’m gonna like this music.
I’m trying to figure out how a 1999 CD with a DR of 7 can sound so good. DR as a numeric measurement to judge sound quality only works so well. There is a correlation but it’s not one-to-one for sure.
Really groovy music!!

Stream of consciousness. Funny I was kind of afraid of this CD. I’ve grown up… maybe not?? Wow. So White Riot was a little tough but then Rock the Cashbah…where has that version been my whole life? Crawfish…I know the whole story of how Elvis and his entourage took over New Orleans. Never heard this version…great! I have read so much about MC5 but never ventured…really just straight ahead rock n roll! What’s not to like? Key to Your Heart, just a groovy rhythm guitar song. Who doesn’t like a driving rhythm guitar? I’m So Bored with the U.S.A…ya, heard this. I get it…but f…k you (sorry, I’m proud). Natty Rebel…groovy reggae! I’ll post more…
…Armagideon Time…I’ve heard a lot of Clash, I assume this is from Sandinista…super groovy Regae beat. Never heard before. Nervous Breakdown…come on…Rock n Roll at it’s simple best!! (In The) Pouring Rain…another Clash song I don’t know. First song since White Riot I could skip (oh, I did). Omotepe…now we’re talking again. Like-a-lot!! Martha Cecilia…another song impossible not to like. Minuet…I know all about Ernest Ranglin. He’s legendary in NOLA music circles. The Caribbean is the next step back for so much music I love! Great sounding song. The DR on this set has gone from 5 to 12. Crazy range of recordings. One last post to cover this special record…
