I have yet to meet a BIS recording I did not enjoy. Robert von Bahr has done a brilliant job.
The opening is one of the great trumpet parts, and lots of other brass playing throughout which is great fun to perform.

Just got back from CO skiing for a few days at Beaver Creek. Lovely place and really good skiing: Iâm beat. Spinning a couple discs before going to bed early. This one hits the spot.
BTW, what a lovely and civilized state Colorado is. Little wonder it ranks high in health and happiness.
I love the title.
Elk, saw you posted a Jazz CD, you have an impressively broad exposure to music. My tastes feel narrow by comparison.

Another perfect record for tonight. A Rudy Van Gelder remaster thatâs just a tad too loud. Great music though. Donât know what the title means, I hear funky ass music.
I learn of good music from people like you.
I have grabbed a number of recordings you have posted which either look interesting on their own or you had interesting things to say abut them. Lonson and Xianharris post great music as well.
Jean-Baptiste Lully, a master of the French baroque style. His music is powerful, lively when fast, deeply emotional when slow. He died of gangrene secondary to having hit his foot with his conducting staff during a during a performance of his Te Deum before Louis XIV. He refused an amputation as he would no longer be able to dance.

I bought this because a) Sacha Perry is on piano and Iâm getting to know his playing and b) it was cheap c) Iâm starting to like Smalls Records quite a bit. Itâs pretty goodâthe band is better than the singer.
