After a few hours of “Memo Madness” on the tube, then some snow shoveling, and then some household chores, Fiona the dachshund and I are taking a “chill pill” spell listening to
Antonio Carlos Jobim, “Stone Flower” (the CTI Supreme Blu-Spec CD version this time)

And then
"John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman" (the UHQCD version this time)

“Classic Artie Shaw Bluebird and Victor Sessions” Mosaic Records disc 1

God how I love this music. Set goes from 45 to 70. 1950 maybe the sweet spot for this kind of country music. Red Foley, Gene Autry, Lefty Frizzell, Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Bob Wills… You either like it or not. Much of modern country is Rock N Roll repackaged with a cowboy hat. Not really my thing. Now there is lots of great modern country: Gillian Welsh, Jason Isbell, Lucinda Williams (what category to put her?), Alison Krauss… it’s just not as good as 1950! YMMV.
Streaming from Tidal through the Bridge/DS Jr. I can never make it through an entire album without it randomly stopping once or twice on it’s own…very frustrating. Great recording though…

In my not really that humble opinion (at least not about this topic), the best one size fits all New Orleans compilation ever. In honor of weekend 1 (there’s two big weekends and Fat Tuesday) of Mardi Gras. Wish I was there!! Going next year!!

Had this set in my sights for a while. Used some bonus money and picked it up for an okay price on eBay. This set will enrich my life immeasurably.
Having a few ripping problems though (only ripped 3 discs out of 18). Dbpoweramp compares the checksums to others who have ripped the same music. I have some failures. I have two CD drives and usually if one rips failed tracks, the other works. Disc 3 has not been so easy. Going to pick up another cheap external drive with a different offset and see if that’ll work.

Disc 4 with an Elvis cover of Tweedlee Dee and the crowd goes crazy! Also includes Jim Reeves, Floyd Cramer (great country piano player), Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton…
I have a Modest Mouse forum playing Bankrupt on Selling now for hours…
born on this day in 1809…

The air conditioners on and it’s Halloween, it’s too hot. Disc 2…Mardi Gras weekend 1!! Krewe of Chewbacchus parade tonight, just started! 100 princess Leia’s, maybe more. Stupid, irreverent, waste of time, glorious fun!!
tabascocat1994 saidI know who Modest Mouse is but don’t know what, “...forum playing Bankrupt on Selling” means. I assume streaming but the rest....I have a Modest Mouse forum playing Bankrupt on Selling now for hours…

Very unlikely there will ever be a better sounding version of Robert Johnson’s music I buy copies for anyone I think is even remotely interested.

J.D. McPherson, North Side Girl…it’s a Chicago thing.

Play Amazing Grace LOUD…how good is the bass on your system?

Rock of Ages, glory to God!

Pretty sure this was produced by John Henry (Spirit of the Century). Play Dear Old Southland to inspired and to show off a great NOLA riff on your stereo.
