What are you spinning right now?

I expected some Dixieland and it’s something much different. Allmusic describes it as a gem. Absolutely agree!

The thing about audiophile darlings is there aren’t enough. Fill your life with lots of music and live more happily than otherwise. Way better than antidepressants!

Think this was a set you could buy on TV in the 70s. Careful how you judge, this is a super well put together and recorded set. Big bad John!!

Aretha…Rock Steady!

Bird Nest on the Ground…such a funky tune!

If it’s not an audiophile darling, it should be…

Well played, so to speak.

Warning: If you already are feeling blue, you might want to skip this one (Frank called them “suicide songs”).
On the other hand, this is pitch-perfect vocals delivered as if he believed every word and perfectly arranged and orchestrated by Nelson Riddle.
PS—The orchestra goes beyond the front wall on this one.

I have yet to reach a definitive conclusion on this one. Some of the tracks work, some not. The sound is excellent.

Disc 17 of this great set!

Ashkenazy playing the original solo version plus his own orchestration for orchestra with the Philharmonia.
Both recorded in London, 1982.

Should have saved this for Sunday but was in the mood to feel the spirit!

Too bad about Gibson guitars and their quality issues. Will they survive?

I doubt it; huge drop in quality (again), dreadful relationship with endorsers, heavily in debt.
