Ok, it’s guitar stuff. And maybe sometimes a bit too polite. But the playing on both disks is superb. And excellent sound. And if you care about this, the sound stage is the best recording I can remember. And you can hear Michael Moore’s characteristic faint grunting behind his solo. Nice.
I saw Alejandro Escovedo at the Continental Club in Austin TX. Pretty sure that’s his home base. It’s a very small club with the best set-up for live music I’ve ever been in (large dance floor and rows of benches and seats facing the stage). The show was a top 10 show for me. The encore was an on-fire version of “All the Young Dudes.” I also think “Gravity” is one of the most heartfelt records I own.
One of two new Grant Green releases from Resonances Records.

HAlejandro is a gem.
I’ve been in tune to his music for the past 30 years. He was once based out of San Francisco.
Gravity is a superb record.
Disc 2. I discovered I accidentally ordered this twice, so I have another set arriving tomorrow. I hate when that happens.
Mosaic Records “The Savory Collection”
I have done this with both CDs and books. I give the duplicate to someone I know who will enjoy it or is interested in being exposed to something they would not buy on their own.
This turns the issue into a happy problem.
The debut release from progressive jazz pianist Cameron Graves, who is part of the ‘West Coast Get Down’ L.A. jazz collective that includes Kamasi Washington (who plays on this album). This is not traditional jazz and it is not background music, but it is most definitely jazz, and it along with other recent WCGD releases give me hope for the future of the genre. Check out the reviews.
Thanks!
I love this thread. Our colleagues here listen to a great variety of fascinating music. I keep picking up music mentioned here I would not otherwise known of or been exposed to - and it is always worth it, even if it is not something I will listen to a lot. I enjoy learning.
Usually similar threads on other sites are astoundingly boring for people who are purportedly interested in music.
Important record.
Okay, I do that a lot too. . . but right now I don’t have anyone I want to hand over over 100 dollars of a limited edition set to. I won’t have a problem selling it to a fellow jazz collector now or later when it goes out of print.
lonson, you are just a massive jazz collecting, listening and learning maniac!!
Hey I resemble that remark! One day I’ll have to stop collecting. Haven’t hit that day yet!
Disc 2. Live at Antibes Jazz Festival, Jul 1970.
