What are you spinning right now?

John Lewis/Helen Merrill “Django”

Beautiful. My cd is from 2011 but this was just reissued this month in Japan, which is great news.

hard to beat this on a cold wet evening; staying in and tuning out…

FURT is the electronic composition/performance duo formed by Richard Barrett and Paul Obermayer in London in 1986. FURT’s dense and intricate musical forms are produced at every level by an interpenetration between free improvisation and systematic composition.

Ed Motta’s latest. Trying to decide whether to now go for the Japanese cd with bonus tracks. I probably will soon.

Just listened to this:

But this one (which I’ve had for years) gets you from the first bar …

“The Complete Blue Note Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams Studio Sessions” Mosaic Records box set, disc 1.

I keep coming back to this band, with our without Duke Pearson, as a really melodic and soulful quintet of its time. Really like all the albums.

I’m on grandson duty tonight. We’re listening together!!! Eight months old!

Have a very Oscar Christmas, one and all.

Another LP I’ve replaced with a cheap, but good sounding, CD.

My grandson digs the big sound. He looks to the middle (he hears the soundstage).
