What Classical are you spinning?

Held tickets to hear her perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 last Sunday at Tanglewood, which, of course, was cancelled. Program included Vaughn Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis & Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (Ravel orchestration). On the radar when things get back to normal.

Had not heard of this composer, found it pleasant. Good Sound. Worth the time spent.

Loving it. Thanks to all that posted and recommended.

Working from home this morning while listening to one of my favorite collections of Beethoven overtures. I haven’t heard much from the Teldec label recently, but years ago they could be counted on for great sound, at least in my experience.

Attended a fascinating Harnoncourt/COE rehearsal of the Beethoven 2nd & 7th symphonies at Carnegie Hall many years ago. His Beethoven was first class & the complete set on Teldec in the top tier.

If you like his approach to Beethoven

Of course.

(Where is that Do’h! icon . . . )

Which is true for every other conductor.

Had not heard a double quartet. Glad I put it on, pleasurable listen

100% weird. I appreciate that Janacek integrated speech and music in his own unique way, this is questionable.

A bit ambient for my taste. I was amused by the appearance of mild Swedish swear words in the second spoken passage. Were I a bit younger I would feel that listening to this album would put you in the mood for really enjoying a rowdy party afterwards.

I’ve been listening to the Beethoven piano concerto cycle on this old set I’ve had since about '73. It’s interesting because it’s sequenced chronologically by year of composition, which puts #2 first (and it shows in the music). Also, the sides are sequenced for playback on changers, which is kind of a pain. But it all sounds very nice.

Having a rough day healthwise and the 6th just makes me feel better.

Just the Dvorak for now.
